When Doves Cry was the song I heard on the radio back in high school in '84 that made me a Prince fan for life so it will always be my sentimental favorite. Runner-up will be The Beautiful Ones.
"Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Computer blue, I used to stay awake waiting for the video to be played on MTV. First time I saw it I was like: :-O who the hell is this?

"waiting for the video to be played on MTV"..I remember staying up for the midnight MTV world premiere for the "Let's Go Crazy" video. I took my little Panasonic tape recorder and put it up to the TV speaker and recorded it..(no VCR or Beta back then..yeah I know..very geek)..I must have rewound that song back a zillion times that night. The solo, the feel..nothing on the radio sounded like that back then...did the same for the "When Doves Cry" vid too.

For me, without a doubt its Darling Nikki.

Purple Rain is actually quite a way down on my favourite album list.

Baby I'm a star. The energy of that song. It captured the feeling you get watching him live. Like a spiritual movement.

"without a doubt its Darling Nikki".....I was about to ask if there was any love for this song. I always felt this song had some heavy industrial vibes too. Could totally hear Trent and NIN doing a version of this.

'The Beautiful Ones' by far. Great album from start to finish though. I know how important the title track is but there was a time P felt it was a burden. Still a great track too.

It is so hard to pick. I love When Doves Cry the most, I think, but Dirty Nikki is so Prince. lol Purple Rain of course, Computer Blue is amazing. Can't go wrong with anything on that album. S

My partner, who's not a Prince fan but I've dragged to a couple of Prince concerts in the past, interestingly loves Darling Nikki as well.

I like every song except Take Me With U.

Out of the major bandwagon fan songs of the album, Baby I'm A Star is my favorite. As someone said before, it captures the feeling of Prince live. I've never seen him live and never will now sad but I have always imagined that that's what it would be like to be at a Prince concert. So much energy!

Out of the rest of the songs that the GP still loves but doesn't mention as much, my favorite would have to be Darling Nikki, because Prince kills that scene and it's so freaking sexual and raw. It's one of the most iconic things ever in my book.

Yep. Obviously, I love all Purple Rain songs, but I especially love Baby I'm a Star. That would be my favorite, then Computer Blue and THe Beautiful Ones. THink about that - we haven't even got to When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Let's Go Grazy, I Would Die 4 U.

People rag on Take Me With U, but I love it. It's a complete album, I honestly love every song, but doing the hard work of picking one, I'll pick Baby I'm a Star.

Thizz

I recently became really drawn to "Take Me With U" - I wouldn't put it above the title track, "I Would Die 4 U", "When Doves Cry" . . but the song is so affectionate. I'm glad he didn't decide to keep it on the Apollonia album
