Prince merchandise coming to Hot Topic soon

Today i dropped by my LA OC Hot Topic store and found out Prince shirts will be coming soon. They have buttons but I was only interested in the shirt. Im assuming its the reissued Purple Rain shirts without the symbol on back. Stay tuned.

Why put $$$$ into a bootleggers pocket who are trying cash in on Prince's death??

There will be folks trying to come off selling official stuff when it's fake. Or someone makes a t-shirt and everyone says "I got to get that", not thinking................

yeahthat

But I get it. Some people want to get stuff in remembrance. I think it's better to wait on something more official. But when that will be is unknown. I've loved his music for 23 year and to this day I have never bought a shirt. Mostly because I have yet to find one that does him justice. I'm just glad I have the music along with some other stuff. So many people are scrambling to buy the music now and I feel bad. They are paying an arm and a leg for some of his music. Some people are so money hungry....

I bought a couple of really nice Prince T-shirts about a year ago from a UK based company. They were a little expensive but completly worth it.

Is hot topic a bootleg? I'm confused sorry.
No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ prince. He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take prince away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

They're not bootleg but what most consider them is trendy and faddish, when you see an eigthteen year old wear a tee shirt with the Ramones logo on it , it looks like they're trying to be cool. It will be the same when you see all of these Prince symbol and image shirts in the weeks to come, some people might think that they weren't " real " fans of his music, just pop culture followers.

Hold out for something more official than a Hot Topic t-shirt? The Purple Rain tour is over, baby! I missed out on seeing it and having access to one of those merch items, so I'm gonna get mine from the retail store. Sorry!

If there is an opportunity to buy other Prince merchandise that is marketed for charitable purposes, I'll put out more cash for that, too.

Who would be licensing this merchandise.

WB Records doesn't have the rights to merch.

WB Consumer Products doesn't have rights to license the movies for merch.

Firebrand, who managed his tour merch, doesn't have retail rights.

Prince controlled his merch rights and I don't see him signing any deals now when he wasn't interested when he was alive.

Well Hot Topic has a TON of Bob Marley gear.

Maybe they have a work-around when it comes to licensing merch...

Exactly. Anything they sell would be unlicensed. HOWEVER! It is up to the copyright holder to defend their license Some companies do this vigorously, like Prince did, while others (like Lego) have a more relaxed stance. Vultures will move now to sell unlicensed merchandise because it's pretty obvious no one is minding the store.

I wonder whats the exact date when they are going to start selling the shirts. HT has like this shirt of biggie and faith together in a car and it is so cute but like $40. I wonder what designs HT is going to use for their prince gear. I could see a black shirt with the "1999" album cover printed on it or the dvd cover from purple rain printed on it. I could see like blue or purple jeans with various prince lyrics printed all over team. Purple assless shorts are cool too. There could be a tank top with a lotusflower printed on it. There could be like summer dresses with various prince album covers on it. There could even be a pink long sleeved dress with a photo of prince and mayte on it since pink represents love and they were soulmates. There is a lot of things that HT could do when it comes to Prince and merchandising so my crazy ideas will more than likely not come to fruition. I would much rather see HT put out prince stuff than the 300 million scam artists/bootleggers on facebook who are trying to make a buck off of him. Most of those people are selling shirts with the wrong dates on it and wrong names and tons of misspellings and thats just not good business. Plus the prices are inflated and that is not cool. The bootleggers are hurting prince's estate by not adding money to it and they are hurting the fans by bleeding them dry while in the midst of grieving for Prince. I hope HT does right by Prince and his fans with this collection.

A Parade T-shirt on white would be nice.

Well there's Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Cobain and MJ action figures via Figuarts, Figma, NECA and Hot Toys and various companies. Wouldn't surpise me if a 'Purple Rain' Prince Hot Toys is availabe within.. 2 years. I'll call that now.
