He simply posted the Maroon 5 singer's cover of Purple Rain. I'm sure he was hurting.

It is really touching to read and see all the memories of all these people who loved Prince or had respect for him. Those who constantly talk about his musical talent are starting to bore and annoy me because that is so obvious and sounds a bit empty and trivial to me but it is those memories shared by people like the late Big Chick Huntsberry´s family or Kevin Smith or even that conspiracy theorist David Icke or Van Jones ....

Hey. Could you possibly point me to the Van Jones and Big Chuck stuff? Thanks.

Sure!

Make sure you watch both interviews with Van Jones:

Kevin has some regrets. I have listened to his week long experience at paisley park years back numerous times. I found it fascinating and honest. I don't think for a minute kevin intended to hurt prince and throughout you could tell he was a huge fan. Anyway, we all have regrets when someone we love is no longer there. I regret not seeing prince the last time he played here. If only I'd known it would be the last time.

Thanks for this.
It was heartbreaking when he cried but comforting to see...because we've all cried.

The bit in An Evening With Kevin Smith, when Prince tells Kevin that his leg will hurt after doing a show. And that's as long ago as 2001. So painful to hear in retrospect.

I agree. I follow Kevin's youtube blog. I knew he was a HUGE Prince fan and the fact that Kevin worked with him back in the day. When Prince passed away, I kept my eyes on his video blog knowing very well he would do a tribute to the Prince Badness. When I he finally uploaded his dedication to Prince and it was an hour show, I was very proud of Kevin. And once I watched it, I was even more impressed. Kevin's tribute was amazingly touching. I loved it. My cap is off to you, Kevin. You did the man proud.

But all I've got is two cigarettes
And this broken heart of mine

Let the rain come down, down"

Wow, the story when Prince told Kevin that there's no point in performing 7 without Mayte dancing to the song.

Yes, very touching. That is the same reason he did not play the Emancipation songs. He must have still loved Mayte, but she probably reminded him of a very bad time, thus he did nott want to remian close.

You guys kill me. Why is everyone so hung-up on mayte being his eternal love blah blah.... he said the same thing about rosie gaines and the diamonds and pearls songs.

++also, he did start playing 7 during Musicology tour. He played during the acoustic sets of both of the shows i saw on that tour.

David Icke ... strange man, sometimes a wit weird, but I do agree with him. Interesting to hear that Prince had read his books.

.

And I do agree with him : when I was younger (childhood, teens) I thought that Prince really was weird and got some things wrong. Musical genius but also wrong about some things.

.

But in the last 10 years I did realise that Prince was DEAD RIGHT about many things he had been saying already in the 80s.

Yeah I noticed that too ... sad

Prince does come off as a bit of a dick in the original anecdote from 2001.

I finally watched the entire first Kevin Smith video. It started out kind of funny but after watching the entire thing I didn't come away thinking it was funny but that Prince had been a jerk. That's not the kind of anecdote you tell the public IMO. Jimmy Fallon's story about playing ping pong with Prince or Magic Johnson's story about Prince and crew showing up at his movie theaters in their pajamas now those are actually amusing, something you could laugh at. IMO you keep a bad experience to yourself or if it's something that really bothers you then talk to the people involved and get your feelings off your chest.

ty for posting ....

i am not a huge Kevin Smith fan , but I found his other youtube moment

about Prince and I laughed ...

its nice of him to do this .... even though what happened etc ....

In this new video, Kevin feels really guilty about some of his old video being mean-spirited in parts. I thought some of it was a bit over the line too, but you could still tell he was a big fan. But he says he was young and stupid and been there, I guess. His love for P is really moving though when you watch the new one.

I am really glad to hear that he expressed his regrets. The other one, which is all over the internet. was really snarky and petty. He should have felt guilty.
