3121 perfume. Love the scent and how I imagined Prince smells most of the time.

FUNKNROLL

The pure joy the music brings me. The curiousity that it evokes. And the false belief that I can sing.

For me it's my tour program for the Act I show. I got to see him at the Warner Theatre in DC. Originally I had balcony tickets, but met some girls there who had orchestra pit tickets and I bought their spares. 8 rows away from the stage, two rows ahead of where Mayte sat before the show began.

Well, I guess my greatest possession would be that memory then, not the tour guide. smile

A few things that come to mind:

.

I have a few 3121 perfumes still in the plastic shrink wrap case thing.

Emancipation mobile that was in record stores.

I have a few posters I love.

  1. Lovesexy
  2. 1984 w him in all white in front of a white Spanish window
  3. Amid-90s one that was also used for the cover drawing on The Purple Medley.

.

The first two are framed & hanging; the latter is not.

.

I was also lucky enough to get a copy of Controversy with the poster. I have 3 Chains O' Gold comic, too.

.

Those are some of the things I enjoy most.

For me, it's just memories...

-Seeing him at Glam Slam in Minneapolis in 1994 (my first show) and watching Mayte and his chemistry onstage... that was the night he premiered P Control over the loudspeakers at the end, and I just remember laughing as he got Mayte to dance to it.

-Dancing at Paisley Park in 1996 as he just stood and watched everyone from the side. The DJ played an amazing set, and I remember dancing away at 4am to Gonna Be A Beautiful Night and other classics.

-The ONA shows at the Warner Theater in DC in 2002... the first 30 minutes of Rainbow Children / Muse / Xenophobia... it was musically as daring and amazing as I've seen any artist ("if you drove up here in a Little Red Corvette... you might be surprised what you gon' get). I was so happy when the DC performance of Rainbow Children made it onto the ONA Live album.

My Purple Rain purple vinyl 12". I have more more collectable items, but I played this when I lost my virginity. I'm not going to declare whether I lasted the full nine minutes.

My Parade poster that hung on my teenage bedroom wall...and my memories of seeing him in concert three times. I close my eyes and I can see that stage setup from the Lovesexy show here in DC. Shoot, I'm going to start crying...
