What Prince probably thought of the Org's armchair A&R's

CHUCK ZWICKY (recording engineer): Back during the “1999” era, a friend of mine was dating him, and she said they’d walk down the street or be in some club and — you know how it is in the Minneapolis music scene — people would walk right up to him and tell him what they thought of him: “Who do you think you are, doing this dance music? Who do you think you are, doing this rock?” People just came up venting their opinions. And he always had this one response for everybody: “Yeah? Well, what are you doing?”

There could have been no other reponse, and the very reason I abstained from really criticizing the man's work.

This. That is why I compare Prince to Warhol, who said, and I'm paraphrasing - don't worry about what the critics think, make your art. And while people are deciding what to think of your art, make more art.

Exactly. Bart had nothing good to say about Prince or his music for 2 decades.

Meh... Prince used our suggestions, as he saw fit. And if we pissed him off, he clapped back time and time again. Seriously, if I were to make a list of things he clearly got from fan sites (like TAFKAP, Rave, AOA and Welcome2America) it would probably surprise a lot of people.

We know what he thought because he wrote a song about (some of) us! P.F.U.N.K.

I feel as though, just looking at the headlines, Bart has been proven correct about a lot of things.

The most obvious example if PFUNK, but he clapped back often through his albums and tv performances. Prince liked to talk shti about other artists too.
