Prince making a impact in my life again

When I was 15 i was not very into music until I bought the INTERACTIVE CD-ROM for my dad. When i started to play it, my world turned upside down. It was like I discovered a secret. The pleasure of music. Since then i dedicated myself to music, learned to play keys, guitar, bass and i even had drum lessons and through prince i discovered the genius of jimi, james, sly, wonder and joni mit. Then i joined bands, made new friends and my social world was very different than what it was going to be until my late teen years. And my life was changed forever. As the times went buy I married, got a business job and now I am 33. In the last years i lost the pleasure and interest on playing music on my instruments. I was just a listener and not a player anymore. But then Prince death urged me to get back to playing and yesterday was the first time in the 3 or 4 years that i REALLY had pleasure playing music (prince music of course) on an instrument. I was playing PS4 and I remembered how to play a guitar solo or a piano jam is way cooler... I just dont know if it will last. Just wanted to share.

I am 100% with you!!!
I'm a singer (I've been blessed to sing with people who've worked with him too). I saw Purple Rain when I was 6 years old and knew in that moment that I wanted to make music. Princes guitar riff in Kiss made me want to learn guitar. I've stopped and started so many times. But now, it is calling me. To be dedicated, like he was.

I started to listen to Prince, again, after so many years. And it's taking me back to those years, to my youth, to my memories. I was a BIG fan between 1984-1993.

I am having mixed emotions now that I can't describe. I started to question life in general and how I spent it. Prince's passing mostly reminded me that I'm getting old. A lot older that I thought I was. It's been whole 31 years since I first heard Raspberry Beret! Unfuckingbelievable!

I hadn't listened to much Prince music for many years and not sure how I lost touch with it, because it was my biggest passion when I was younger. But I just stopped listening to music at all for the most part..sucks getting old. But since the Atlanta show, I had already reconnected to his music and of course his premature departure from this planet makes me appreciate his classic grooves even more.

If you have mixed emotions, the best thing you can do is be kind to yourself. It sounds to me like the quality of your experience in a moment in time is more precious than the number of years, being a fan should never be a competition, authenticty is the best way to be. For me as a writer he was a subtle influence and most I am influenced by definitely took pages from his book anyways, but I'm feeling it stronger than ever now. Those are hard heels to fill though lol he was in a planet of his own

I used to be able to play Fathers Song on the piano...that, and the main hook from Raspberry Beret. That's all I could play. I've been thinking for months I should learn them again. I haven't touched a piano in 15 years and never stuck with it to learn much. But maybe I will learn those. I would like to be able to play Fathers Song again..just a beautiful song.
