Prince has the #1 and #2 album & more top 200

Projected top 200 album billboard chart:

1)Prince very best

2)Purple Rain

6)Hits/bsides

Eight Prince Albums Are on the Billboard 200: In addition to his trio of titles in the top 10, Prince also returns to the chart with 1999 (No. 31), another greatest hits package, Ultimate (No. 61), Sign ‘O’ the Times (No. 95), HITnRun: Phase One (No. 147) and his self-titled album (No. 160).

He will be number 1 next week as well because this weeks ranking is just from one day of sales, April 21st.

Craziness. I counted 29 Prince albums on iTunes charting around the world. 29 albums, that is insane. 3.5M songs and Albums sold in the US so far up to this point, I can't imagine what the worldwide numbers are.

Warner Brothers I guess, as all of these albums are WB, Very Best of is a good and basic intro to Prince and will sell millions, because Prince had nearly 40 official albums and countless others, no one is really going to buy them all like they did with MJ, who had only 7 official post 1978 solo albums when he died.

.

Plus TVBOP has the big hits like 4 tracks off Purple Rain and 4 off Diamonds and Pearls, yet it is missing any of the Batman songs and Pop Life/Delirious along with any Symbol era songs. Plus the versions are all the basic radio edits.

.

Still good to see him back on top of the charts.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

that's the truth. wink

If there's a downside to all this, it sort of feels to me like a lot of modern media and culture ridiculed Prince for many years.... but now that he's gone, everbody's a fan. I'm delighted by the response to his passing but it feels a bit late for the acknowledgement that he was the Greatest confused .

Next weeks news: Millions of speakers around the world blown!

People who bought Prince's music last week have been forgetting to turn the volume back down on their stereos before playing their regular music. Prince's 80s albums were notoriously quiet and required a substantial volume increase to enjoy them properly.
