THE EERIE PROPHECY OF LETS GO CRAZY

As QUESTLOVE just tweeted, read EVERY SINGLE WORD...

The prophetic lyrics of LETS GO CRAZY is a very eerie prophetic example of the circumstances that just happened to PRINCE a few days ago...

Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life

Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The after world

A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night

So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby

'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the after world
In this life
You're on your own

And if the elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy, punch a higher floor

If you don't like the world you're living in
Take a look around you
At least you got friends

You see I called my old lady
For a friendly word
She picked up the phone
Dropped it on the floor
(Ah, ah) is all I heard

Are we gonna let the elevator
Bring us down
Oh, no let's go!

Let's go crazy
Let's get nuts
Let's look for the purple banana
'Til they put us in the truck, let's go!

We're all excited
But we don't know why
Maybe it's 'cause
We're all gonna die

And when we do (When we do)
What's it all for (What's it all for)
You better live now
Before the grim reaper come knocking on your door

Tell me, are we gonna let the elevator bring us down
Oh, no let's go!

Let's go crazy
Let's get nuts
Look for the purple banana
'Til they put us in the truck, let's go!

C'mon baby
Let's get nuts
Yeah
Crazy

Let's go crazy

Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down
Oh, no let's go!
Go crazy

I said let's go crazy (Go crazy)
Let's go, let's go
Go
Let's go

Dr. Everything'll be alright
Will make everything go wrong
Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill
Hang tough children

He's coming
He's coming
Coming

Take me away!

Neither do I. Where do the old lady and the truck and the purple banana come in? It's perfectly understandable that people start looking for deeper and/or hidden meanings everywhere, but that doesn't mean it's all true!

It's "de-elevator"

Look at the lyrics that accompanied the album.

Everyone saying De-elevator is spot on. The De-elevator is only capable of going down and it's not a place or a moving box it's the evil one/devil. The opposite of De-elevator is elevator also not a person in this song, but God. This is only capable of upward mobility. People keep thinking of the machine for this song and it's simply not so. De-elevator=person. Elevator is taken out of context!

The only relevant lyric I can think of that is accurate is that maybe he has the answers to all the April snow (untimely deaths and other things that aren't supposed to happen), and now he has found another friend.
No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ prince. He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take prince away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

Punch a higher floor!

There is enough in the lyrics and the circumstances of his death to freak me out.

You know what freaks me out even more is Dolphin!

"And I'll come back again, as a dolphin."

Anyone seen a purple dolphin pop up?

Questlove is cool but some of his Prince-fandom is starting to get on my nerves.

Also, it is a bit of a stretch to think that there was something eerie , spooky or prophetic in those lyrics. Prince´s lyrics often dealt with the afterworld or afterlife and death, and Dr.Everything`ll Be Alright refers to a shrink, not a doctor who gives you painkillers.

-

I call bullshit on this one.

It´s sad enough that he happened to die in an elevator, no need to read more into it.

I´d understand if he mentioned that Sometimes It Snows in April was written on April 21 but reading something into Let´s Go Crazy ? Come on.

I almost dread if the autopsy shows he ate a banana that day. You know, because "Let's Go Crazy" mentions that, too. Then that'd be a prophecy or something equally coincidental. rolleyes

Now that I think about it, that's the only song Prince ever wrote where he talks about life, death, the afterlife, God, heaven and hell, and the Devil.
Makes sense to me. rolleyes

Or if he was searching for something that could metaphorically could be called "the purple banana" (maybe a phone?) when he got in the elevator.

That would be really awkward, but it'd also be comforting at the same time because it'd indicate that he knew and really did have some sort of spiritual connectiont that we don't the whole time.

I think some purple academics need to school Questlove.

Didn't Prince talk about the real meaning and what certain lyrics originally said in a 1997/98 interview?

I have nothing against him and like him a lot, really a lot, but when it comes to Prince he can be a bit annoying at times.

This is what I know of the Dolphin metaphore...

When he released this song he just started calling himself O-+->. It seemed that sales dropped and it felt to him no one (either the public, or WB) listened anymore. So he sang 'If I came back as a Dolphin would you listen to me then'. Dolphin is derived from the French word Dauphin (spelling?) which means Prince.

So he meant either: If I changed my name back to Prince, would you buy more records? Or would you, WB, reconsider the contract.

I think the lyrics to Dream Factory are far more poignant (and also quite sad)

This is what it's like
In the Dream Factory, oh

Hollyrock ain't all it seems
(Lordy)
Don't get too serious, it's just a dream
Don't forget your friends, they're all you've got
(Lordy)
Listen to the story of a man I am not

Party all night, hangin' out
In the streets more than I be at home
I take a pill to wipe away my doubts
But a pill can't cure my bein' alone

Vodka and 7 straight to my brain
Put me under false impressions
Hide all my pain
Somebody help me, I'm losing control

This is what it's like
In the Dream Factory, oh

Everybody got the big dreams
(Hey lordy)
But nobody got the bucks
Love and trust will help you make it in a world
(Everybody)
Where there ain't no love, ain't no love

Dig, a man came up to me
Smile in his eyes, he told me
I was a saint, so I'm quittin' my friends
Much to their surprise

I can't live up to the picture that they paint
Ah, somebody help me
I'm losing control
(Ow)

I guess I'm just a sucker
In the Dream Factory, oh

Lordy
La, la, la, la, la
(Sucker)
Got to drive

(It's just a dream)
(It's just a dream)
(It's just a dream)
Look out

Do you wanna party?
Do want a pill?
How about a false impression?
(Thrills, spills, chills)

This is what it's like
In the Dream Factory, oh

Ow, yeah
Up a little bit
(Dream Factory, oh)
Party all night, hang up on the side

I said uh
(Do you wanna party?)
I can't make up my mind
(How about a false impression?)

I can't seem to live with no pictures
(Thrills, spills, chills)
Somebody got to help me
(Just a sucker)

I'm losing control
(Just a sucker)
I guess I'm just a sucker
In the Dream Factory, oh

Guess I'm just a sucker
In the Dream Factory, oh
(Just a sucker, motherfucker)

It's both. De-elevator, yes because that is what written. But is also a play on words, with next line calling back to the end of the word elevator and an allusion to a 'higher floor'. Message being be on point and be the best you can so that you can reach a / the higher floor and thus not be taken down by the devil.
.
That's how I always read it. Other experiences in this category include, little red corvette which as well as being a car could also…u get the idea. It's poetry, art, allusion, simile metaphor…

Yeah, he is a big fan but I found that he tries to remake Prince in some respect.
Like when he said Prince is Hip Hop(or Rap) and tried to tie PRince to that musical genre

Prince was never Hip Hop(Rap) especially in the 80s when Qustlove tried to attach him.

Prince was his own genre
