Acorrding to FB posts, Prince's long-time collaborators/friends had a celebration last night. Monte Moir's post said, in part:

"A lot of us who were connected to him over the years were able to gather last night and share stories, some funny, some deeply touching. Many of whom you think would be there were. Too many to list. There was so much positivity in the room.
We even touched on how working with Prince enabled a lot of us to meet each other whether it be musicians, road crew, tech guys or the administrative folks. For those friendships can continue. As will your music.

So with many thanks before
Comes one more.

Thank you Prince. Thank you for everything.
May God bless you.

And may we all live and carry out our true purpose."

What cloning centres? Another conspiracy wacko amongst us.

Cremation because that's what JW beliefs require.

For those that are asking why certain people weren't there, has it occured to anyone that it's possible that they just couldn't be there that day.

Let's stop trying to analize everything about his death. If you don't know the reason someone wasn't there, then there's no reason to speculate. Move on!

Exactly.

None of us have the right to judge anyone about the way they deal with grief, whether they attend a gathering or not, whether they post anything or not.

Prince had hundreds of colleagues, friends, lovers etc over the past 4 decades but it is perfectly understandable that most of them probably weren't even invited to that small, intimate remembering Tyka held inside Paisley after the cremation so there's no point in jumping to conclusions about anyone not being there.

And of course some people might have been abroad, some might not even want to go back to Paisley because it'd be too hard for them, some might chose to go silent and invisible for awhile, it's all OK. Let them be.

I don't quite understand why suddenly Sheila is in charge of things either. They might have still been friends with Prince but I guess he had several other (and possibly closer) friends too.

And if I were her I wouldn't brag about Prince proposing her either when he was juggling women and certainly didn't end up actually marrying her.

I think she is 'in charge' of getting everyone together to make the music happen. Since she did well with the Family Jamm back in the early 2000s

I have no problem with that.

something thats bugging me is if Prince had no intention of dying, ie no will. How did they know he wanted a private cremation? In the recent Rolling Stone interview he said he didn't think about dying. I hope the police are investigating properly. Was the will lost on purpose. And how bad are his lawyers not putting it to him strongly that he needs a will.

...except, when someone was asking why such and such wasn't there, Susannah Melvoin actually replied and said that SHeila E was the one handing out the invites. Make of that what you will...

I have to say, (now that someone else has already said it) I also don't like the way they keep referring to Shelia E as his "former fiance" and she's sitting there like she was. I agree, him mouthing Marry me onstage is a cute moment they had between them, not a wedding proposal! I have never heard Prince refer to her as his former fiance and I find it tacky that she is referring to herself that way. I mean, apparently he has a girlfriend now (or did at the time of his death) and no one is mentioning her. Some of this I don't like at all.

She wasn't really his fiance unless she got a ring and they had set a date. Otherwise, she was just another member of his harem. After all, he was also seeing Susannah Melvoin and Cat Glover during the time period.

Sheila is giving interviews like they were bussom buddies, but in one interview she said that she had not talked to Prince in about 8 months. It sounds to me that they talked maybe 2 or 3 times a year and worked together on ocassion.

But I guess once you've been with someone like Prince, it's hard to let it go.

He could have told his family that much and still leave no will.

Exactly...Not only that but in case most people have forgotten Shelia is an EXCELLENT Music Director/Arranger...The Latina Sista is bad to the Bone and Producers have booked her to direct their shows (televised & non-televised) on many occasions...Yeah, the family could have asked Musical Director & LEGEND Rickey Minor (who is also Bad to the bone) or some other big name Music-Director but Sheila was Prince's friend and the Family did not think twice about asking her to take on the task of planning Prince's tribute...This is a very strange discussion.....

Maybe it was Prince's wish. Most people state in their Will whether they wish to be buried or cremated. Let's respect that.

Whether it was P's wish or his family's, it is not our place to critcize such an intimate decison.

I completely agree. It's not our place.

Some people said they had no problem with cremation of Prince.

"Cremation of a dead body is carried out at a temperature ranging between 1400 to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. The intense heat helps reduce the body to its basic elements and dried bone fragments.

The process takes place in a cremation chamber, also known as a retort, of a crematory. The chamber is preheated at a set point and then body is placed is quickly transferred there through a mechanized door to avoid heat loss"

I wouldn't done that to Prince even if he was dead. eek mad

Sheila wrote in her book that he was her fiance. Her book was published before his death. I don't think she would write that down, if it had not been true. HE would not have that and still talk to her on the phone.

-----Yes, Sheila did write this in her book. People need to chill about Sheila. Her relationship with Prince was much more than any of us will ever know or understand. She's in mourning too and doing her best to be a good person and good friend to P.

I think everything has to do with the fact that this was SUDDEN. Everyone was in shock and devastated when all his former bandmembers found out about this. Just like us, his fams.I think alot of them that were not in MPLS area already were grieving and couldnt function. I'm Thankful Sheila left as soon as she could to get to MPLS to find out what she could as to what happpened. The fiance thing was in the past. She has been a devoted friend since then. Respectully, Prince Being Jehovahs Witness they had to do everything very quickly and that made it hard on everyone else to attend the first private funeral. Let focus one what happened to him.Cause no one just dies at the age of 57 that was more healthy than my other idol MJ.He did not have Vitiligo or Lupas. Plus Pain from being a burn victom and having a bridge fall on him on tour.Influenza seems very strange to me. I'm not really buying it.Wainting for autopsy report to come back in hopes that it will shed more factual information as to what happened instead of this f'd up taboid media speculation.

Once the Soul leaves the Body the Flesh returns to the Earth....Some families choose a traditional Funeral that includes burying an embalmed Body while others choose Cremation....Our Human form is only Temporary, the REAL experience begins when we die....
