Van Jones

Of all of the reports and anectdotal stories I saw about Prince last night, seeing Van Jones speak about Prince was the most heartfelt/heartbreaking. I broke down hard watching him try to remain composed, but being unable to speak about his friend in the past tense.

Van spoke about Prince and what people should know, and be discussing. His philantropy via things like YesWeCode and countless other things that he refused to take credit for publicly. This, to me, will be his real legacy. Helping people help themselves, and doing it selflessly.

I've never seen someone being interviewed in the aftermath of someone's death, breakdown while speaking about it. Van obviously felt very close to Prince, and cared deeply about what he was trying to accomplish.

It's hard to watch without shedding a tear, but really puts into perspective what kind of person Prince truly was.

Saw it too sad
This year is so sad. When Bowie died, I thought to myself in sadness that atleast we've still got Prince. It must be so weird for guys like George Clinton and Stevie Wonder experiencing Prince dying before them. Like a dad loosing your son. Even Sly is still alive and well, and his life has been pretty damn brutal with the drugs. This is so sad. Saw the interview with Stevie. Broke my heart too.

Van Jones was dignified, moving & gave us some great insights into Prince's generosity that went unpublicised. Alas Mr. Gordy who was also on CNN horribly misjudged it & came across as someone who was happy to enjoy his 15mins of fame.

Such a wonderful video.

So very heartfelt.

I agree about his sentiment to remind people of Prince's humanitarian work.

I miss him so much already.
