Funny how grief works - I am already tired of it all.

I dont know why but I just dont want to hear about it anymore. Less then 24 hours have passed and I am sick of the media, relatives, coworkers, people on the street - all talking about it with limited knowledge of him as an artist. It makes grieving more difficult than it has to be I get irritated when people dont know what they are talking about or get things wrong about him. Speculation makes me sick. The pretentious demonstrations and excessive phoniness that our society has made the norm make me even sicker.

I suppose those of us here are truly grieving - everyone else is just talking about what is on social media. THey will forget him just as they have already forgotten David Bowie and Maurice White - because they were not supporting and loving those aritsts. We loved Prince - we were there when every new release in the 2000's was called a comeback even though Prince never went anywhere. I just want them to shut the hell up and let us grieve.

...and they get so much wrong!

.

On the news some guy said Prince had a career spanning three decades.

.

As we all know, he has been a musical genius all of his life and his career spanned FIVE decades!!!

.

I miss him so much already...

It happened to many stars before and now it happens to Prince. Everything is relative.

The drug overdose may very well be a poor choice of words. I personally think it was a side effect of prescribed (pain?)medicine use. I also read somewhere that he had AIDS and therefore he had low resistance to the flu. So the speculation is disgusting, indeed.

Just prepare for a shit storm when the autopsy report will be made available. I am devestated as is, so I'm not sure I wanna know...

I deleted someone from my FB friends list because he and his friends wrote in all seriousness that Prince was a gay satanist and that he had it coming with his lifestyle. Disgusting. Other than that me and my fan friends are grieving together and supporting each other. I am in India where no one knows Prince so here it's not someone people are even aware of.

I know what you mean. I felt the same with MJ when people came out on the streets with their painted murals and flash mobs. I was just wondering where they all were 5 years earlier when he needed them?

I'm sick of hearing Purple Rain; hearing about the supposed slump in the 90s after the name change; the talking heads mentioning Nothing Compares 2 U like that's news. I know they'll move on to a new story next week and we're just stuck feeling empty.

I´m incredibly sad and devastated but at the same time glad to see that he´s getting the respect and the recognition that he deserves. And it is truly touching to see how many people on this places he has touched regardless of race, religion, culture or geography.

Sure, there will be idiots and speculations and phony admiration but it is good to see that the pain and grief are shared, and that he meant so much to so many people from all walks of life.

From rock icons to rappers, from actors to politicians (including the President), poor or rich, famous or unknown people, doctors, teachers, chefs, everybody......Prince´s life has inspired millions of people.

-

Personally, at this point, I don´t care about his legacy, the vault, the reason why and how he died, or who is going to take care of his estate, or anything.

All I know is that I´m very grateful and consider myself lucky to have been able to see him so many times and to have been to Paisley Park and how his music and attitude have inspired me since the first time I heard his music when I was 12.

I am glad that I got to see him, that he appreciated his real fans when most people stopped caring about him and his music, that I was there when he thanked us, the fans, at Paisley Park for sticking with him through the thick and the thin, and I am happy that a dear friend of mine got to see him at Paisley Park during the very first Piano and a Microphone show in February.

-

I had a strange feeling about Prince´s health situation and spoke about it with an old friend whom I would consider an oldschool fan and insider ( part of that infamous "elite circle"? ) and we both had this hunch that something bad was brewing, and we were both very worried.

The signs were there.

I wish we had been wrong about this.

-

I am still in shock and think it´s going to take a while for me to cope with this loss.

All the vault music, the outtakes, unreleased albums, videos, concert footage and unreleased movies mean nothing to me today and if I could choose between never ever getting access to anything from the vault or Prince just being Prince and alive for the next 30 years, I´d gladly prefer and enjoy his presence on this planet.

-

-

This man meant so much more to me and all of us here than just being one of the most gifted and brilliant artists of all time.

-

He touched, inspired and connected people from day one until the very end.

May he rest in eternal peace.

-

Peace to all those orgers who always said we should appreciate him while he´s still with us instead of arguing over petty things.

-

I´m really, really sad today.

I work at a pathology dept. Autopsies are very interesting and the pathologists truly respect the deceased and treat them with care and respect.

It is incredible to experience that without all the organs, the body really is just an empty vessel. The human being, Prince, is gone I can assure you that. But his spirit lives in all of us. At least, that's my view on death, autopsies and spirituality.

Yeah they get stuff wrong all the time - I've heard just today on tv that he wrote MC Hammer's hits and he actually wrote the song One Of Us by Joan Osbourne. I think the Hammer confusion came from the sampling of Prince in his song Pray from 1992 or whatever, and the One Of Us confusion in that he covered it.

So annoying that they get so much wrong indeed.

I realise the media had to make up things quick yesterday (it was early in the evening over here when the news came in), but come on.. some things are easy to check.

For example I read somewhere that Phase 1 was his last album, that's just not checking facts.

Just remember that there will ALWAYS be haters because they can't comprehend his genius and loving spirit for human kind - always sending love, peace and reminding us that we are a human family. As tried and true fans, WE knew who he was by his music and action. That is what we must hold onto when listening to people that just DO NOT KNOW. Unfortunately, people will capitalize on his death as they always have in the past and it's sad. But we can block out all that noise by just turning up the music and holding on to truth and continueto appreciate the gifts he left for us. Peace, love and hugs going out to all the Prince fan family.
