My hero has passed, I am so sad, so devastated and so depressed disbelief.

How did this happen? why was he alone? Why!

He should have hired me orat least someone who was competent.

What kind of doctor would let him leave the hospital?

How did this happen? No DRUG OD. No SEX scandal!

Just incompetent employee's.

I am so SAD. First, LENNON and now PRINCE.

Rumours are that doctors wanted him to stay in hospital but he insisted on leaving because they didn't have a private room. Drug OD is a rumour as to cause. There's also AIDS rumours. Rumours, rumours, rumours. The truth will come, whatever it is and all we can do is wait and see.

So, so sad, whatever the reasons. Gone too soon sad

RIP sad

Such sadness that we are all feeling, my heart feels broken, but to me I have been so lucky seeing him in concert 5 times and shared his music with my family. I recently saw him in Sydney where he once again showed the pure GENIUS that he is. I love Prince and always will. Let the world talk and acknowledge the brilliance of Prince.

Rest in peace xx

The day the news broke that Prince had been rushed to hospital it snowed heavily here (a rare occurence in April); the photograph I took of the snow and posted to instagram I, of course, captioned "Sometimes It Snows in April". It didn't seem prophetic at the time, the idea of P passing away was unthinkable, then yesterday happened, it is impossibly sad!

Condolences to P's family, friends and my fellow fans.

Numb.

What makes this even harder for me (and I'm sure others) is the fact that I just went through this shock and grief only three months ago with Bowie. I comforted myself then by saying hey at least the world still has Prince.

I can't. I just can't. This is too much. I feel so empty.

You can't force someone to receive medical treatment if they choose not to. By all accounts, he made the personal decision to leave the hospital.

When I got the text at 6.38 this morning I could hardly believe it. I was still on a high from seeing him two months ago - and now this?

I've been a fan for 35 years. We'll never see anyone or anything like him again. It's the end of an era for music and the human race.

I saw him three times in concert and I've never seen anyone more alive than he was two months ago. There's a lesson in this: "we've all got to die". The only consolation is that he went out on top of his game.

Condolences to his friends, family, and the entire fan community.

Rest in peace, Prince.

This morning I woke 6.25. Had only slept for two hours. Completely destroyed after his death. But there he was, he was happy. He had just finished a gig. I asked if I could sit with him and talk a little. There were also some other people. I kept saying to myself - you have to go home and sleep, you are tired, but I could not, would not miss anything. We talked about everything under the sun. I asked if he wanted my number, just in case he needs it. Would love to play with him. It was ok, he said. But it would probably end up in the pile with other numbers from other people. After a few hours, he gathered his friends and musicians, and said that now he had to go. I said goodbye and was relieved and uplifted to have talked to him. I went home and slept ... Woke up again 7:45 and realized that I had another dream about Prince. I smiled and said thank you.

Hi. I´m from Denmark.

"Gebroken hart en ziel."

Broken heart and soul.

Can't put it any different.

But the thought that he lived 9 lives at least... wow!

You left us with an uncomparable huge enormous amount of music, images, memories...

and you lived up to it till the very end... who can say that ?

Prince, you will always be music, more than anything else, to sooooo many people I'm sure.

Cause you made more music than there is time.

T H A N K U P R I N C E ! ! !

U lived to see the dawn. And we will keep on remembering you for what you loved the most : the music. XXX

So this is melancholy.

I guess...thank you. Thank you for writing Anna Stesia, which first blew open the door for me to your work. Your outstanding body of work, which has meant so much to me over the years.

Take it easy, dude. Huge love.

"And among so many other gifts, this was the very solitary magic of Prince. He brought completely disparate groups of humanity together and made them feel they fit. He transcended musical genres and broke through color lines and challenged gender roles, and he boldly declared the dance floor big enough for all of us and open all night. And in that free and joyful place, we all danced."

sad I'm numb, in shock and very, very saddened by this. It's surreal, I keep feeling like someone is going to report that this is a bad joke somehow, but I know that it won't happen. sigh I will forever love Prince and his music. I am thankful that I did get to see him live twice 12 years ago...but everytime I think or talk about those memorable times in my life, I fall into tears. There will never be anyone like Prince, ever. Although this hurts like hell, it's pretty reassuring how many lives he's touched all over the world despite gender, race and culture. There's really something special going on when your music and your presence can bring so many different individuals together. Rest in power our great Prince. You will never ever be forgotten and your music will live on for centuries to come. I love u 4ver!

I found out what happened from my sister, who woke me up by texting me the news several times. I didn't believe it and I really felt that it was one of those rumors that gets out of hand. Was shocked to find out it was true, it was just so weird reading it all, like some bad dream. To make things worse, I had to go to my retail job, so I had to postpone grieving.

Walking down the different aisles during my shift, I thought about how strange it is that something like this could happen and the world somehow isn't broken; there will be another day tomorrow, another month, another year, but I'm never going to forget where I was and what I was doing on April 21st, 2016.

A part of me really wishes I could have been in that crowd in front of First Avenue. The outpouring of song in the video footage felt so relieving. I was born in 1983, but somehow I thought he'd outlive me. I didn't want to experience a Prince-less world, but here we are. Although, I am touched that there was a rainbow over Paisley Park yesterday. It makes it feel like somehow things will be okay, even though it doesn't hurt any less.

Thank you so much for the dreams and adventures you inspired me to have in my own life, Prince, and thank you for being (albeit unbeknownst to you) a friend to a sad girl who found solace and motivation in your music. I miss you, but I won't forget you.. ever!!

Thank you Prince,

May I say 'friend' to you ?

You were present when I met my wife, the girl dancing every saturday night at 'Erotic City' just before the club lights went on?

You were present at our wedding when my wife entered the chapel on 'Venus de Milo' and when we spoke out our wedding vows you allowed Martika to sing "Love thy will be done".

In Hamburg you played the Rainbow Children and when you sung "the future of our nation is in our belly" or still unborn daughter kicked in my wife's belly.

When I was sad, you played "Sometimes it snow in April" many times. Making me cry but also making me feeling better.

You were by my side so many times in my life, that I feel that I've lost one of my best friends today.

So yes, I will say 'friend' to you.

Thank you my friend for all the beautiful moments you gave to me and to millions over the world. I know that I'm not alone in my grief, as many lost their friend on april 21 2016.

I hope that the April snow will keep on coming the next decades, to rremind us of our friend Prince in heaven. I hope you will find a new friend over there.

Goodbye friend

I haven't posted on here for a decade, but needed to express my utter shock and disbelief and devastation. Just saw him in concert in Auckland, New Zealand two months ago. I drove to work this morning and started tearing up, not something I do very often at all. I started listening to his music when I was 17 - The Greatest Romance Ever Sold had just been released and was getting radio play. Whatever music you listen to when you're a teenage has a huge effect on you. It feeds into your identity formation. And I kept listening - to his entire catalogue - through the troubled years of my late adolescence and early twenties. He gave me so many different rewarding emotional experiences that I owe him a big thank you. What a profoundly sad day. It's not right.
