1. It either won't happen, or it won't reveal anything that actually matters.

2. We already have all we need from Uptown and the books that they put out.

3. ROFL at "Mega memoir". Only available at Big Lots, Ross, Grocery Outlet...

4. Price will no doubt be $77.77 and include a free Jam Of The Year baby tee. Or you can get it for free at his upcoming Solo Banjo tour where tickets will be $777.77.

5. Unknown if rumors are true that the Watchtower insert will feature scratch n sniff "Get Wild" scent.

6. Definitely known that it will be great for starting fires in the freezing winters of Minneapolis.

7. Will become best known for stories of "Yeah, my parents beat me with Prince's mega memoir."

8. EVERYTHING WILL B TYPED LIKE THIS. ALL CAPS. ALL BOLD. ALL THE TIME. MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA.

As if we know for sure that there is a decent CONtract to make the Prince man work to fill the book with decent contents.

The most vulnerability being that he will open his mind and offers his life on a plate.

.

From the man that was said to be more 'open' during the Piano shows.

The same man that bans recorders and notepads from his interviews.

I am extremely happy and excited about being invited to his mind travels journeys and MOST IMPORTANT his musical journeys with God Jehovah!. Bravo biliissimo!

Since when is Larry compared to Jehova?

Maybe the book will explain his beliefs during ~1988 and the changes towards ~1998 and beyond in those beliefs.

Those being "negative" might have seen/read all his interviews, official magazines, the 21 Nights Book, or anything he's said/written online ever, and might just be logically keeping their expectations low as they've learned that over hyping an anouncement like this will surely lead to disappointment. How is that negative? cool

That said, I've bought and read well over a dozen books about Prince, I'll be sure to do the same with one that he does himself, even though I expect more than a few cringeworthy moments. wink

Nonsense.. there's a hard core on here who have grown to hate virtually everything he does.....yet refuse to let go....that in itself tells it's own story.

I would agree there are those that hate on everything, that's their problem.

However, assuming every opinion that is not "positive" identifies a hater is unwise.

I think this book will be a fascinating trainwreck (based on the reasons I mention in my first paragraph) and I am no hater at all.

Thing is, not everyone here falls in the hater or famboy categories. Some of us still love Prince but temper our expectations based on our experience as longtime fans. It might be hard to tell on the org, but there are still moderate hardcore fans that will like or dislike a project based on it's merits and not automatically hate or automatically think everything is a masterpiece. So don't assume everyone that's not gushing and praising is a hater. Cool? wink

"Fascinating trainwreck" nails it. Nice! I'm looking forward to it. It might never come out. Whatever. But if it does, it could be an interesting glimpse into the creative mind of a guy who's made some of my favorite music ever and has also laid some truly awful turds.

I think most people on this thread have realistic expectations. They're not holding their breath for this book, but they will gladly read it when and if it comes out.

Bingo flamingo.

Lol. OMG. Whether you're a fam or a hater no one in this forum should be that cheap.

I'm closer to a fam than a hater, and I didn't get 21 Nights until it was in the cutout section--now, it went there really fast, and it wasn't a real book (and I'm not sure if most people noticed or cared about the album). But pretty much all the rock star memoirs are in the bargain bins within just a few months. They aren't longterm sellers, in my bookstore frequenting experience. A copy or two of a trade edition might hang around longer, but the initial stock (especially if there's a hardcover edition) will either sell or wind up on the cheap shelves pretty quick. I pick those things up all the time for nothing at all. I'll get Prince's as soon as it hits, but I expect it will be cheap soon.

Okay. smile

Good luck to his publishers. Guess he found another sucker; I hope they haven't already paid him for this.

Gotta love how this thread was a reasonable discussion of a project between fans with various levels of excitement and some trepidation, except for one infamous bitter ex-fan who can't stand the idea of fans being positive about a new project.

Oh please, read the first two pages. Once again your blatant bias is showing.

Their entire mental fantasy is based upon the illusion that Prince can do no wrong. The thought of that illusion being shattered scares the hell out of them, because once that's gone...who are they?

There's only one person I've ever seen on the org that thinks Prince can do no wrong. I think most people on here accept that Prince is human and like all humans, makes mistakes. I certainly don't think the man is perfect, there are a lot of songs he's done that I'll gladly never listen to again, but likewise, there are songs which will stay with me forever. I'd imagine most people on here feel that way. Everyone has their own taste in music. As for Prince's personal life and business dealings, I'm not particularly interested. Sure, like everyone else here, I have my opinions on what I think Prince SHOULD do, but he's made it this far without our advice. I'm interested in this book because I hope he'll delve into the meaning behind some of his songs. Why he wrote them, what his inspirations are etc. I have my fears that he'll let the "unconventional" part take over and we'll be left with a glorified photo album with a few little anecdotes spread throughout. And if that does prove to be the case, then so what? You don't have to buy it. I'm sure some of us would like something like that, others, myself included, wouldn't, so we simply don't buy it. But the fact is, we don't know what form it's going to take yet so to automatically assume it's going to be shit, if it ever comes out, is just as bad as assuming it's going to be a MASTERPIECE.

.

Oh look, another fan who fails to ignore THE MOUNTAIN OF EVIDENCE. Here's an idea: go look up every publication Prince was involved in (books, magazines) and see if they're shite. Hint: some of them are mentioned here already. PrinceVault has a list. But for some reason you lot seem to think that we should ignore past performance and pretend all the previous shite he published (and his illiterate Twitter feed and his lying-my-ass-off interviews) aren't indications of the sort of thing we're gonna get.

.

So now we have at least two issues: chances this is going to be actually published (already very slim considering his past performance and especially considering this invovles something a YEAR into the future) and chances this isn't going to suck (very slim considering his other written output).

This is not a criticism of Prince but I never saw emplying 'Yes men' as anything strange.

I just love your absurd B/W dichotomy. Employees aren't slaves who should execute orders, they need to have input. Not all companies are like Mickey D's. The likes of W&L called him on his BS and we got great music. His current band members just kiss his arse and we get shite.

Wendy and Lisa threatened to quit during the Parade tour and so Prince like most employers started to consider what he would do after them. Almost all Companies instruct you what to do and you do it. Companies very rarely say, "Please ignore what we want you do to, go off and do your own thing, whatever that is". Employees may have minor input but ultimately in a Capitalistic society the Employer is the one giving the instructions.

2) I am very sad to inform you that your Horse has passed on. beatdeadhorse

3) At this point you are becoming a bit like a boyfriend standing outside their ex's house hurling abuse at them whilst they leave for work, getting on wth their life. Do you have to like everything? No. Do you have to like even 10% of everything? NO. But, do you know what? I don't particuarly like for example Justin Bieber but what I don't do is go on Bieber websites all day, every day, endlessly having a go at anyone who likes his work.

wow...it's been asked many, many times but why do you stay here? - you clearly despise him & his every action. Your point above has zero relevance..'mountian of evidence' ? some fans love his books [they are allowed an opinion right? - you think they're all shite well that's fair enough too]. It's all a little bit weird to condemn a product before it even lands. The guy works his arse off compared to most - it benefits him financally & most of us as there's always something to look forwards to. Your point is based on nothing but guess work & a negative prediction based on your previous disappointment with his released products & also on a book that is not yet written!. Please come back with credible facts...for your own credibility if nothing else.

As an employer myself let me tell you if any employee adopted that attitude with me they would be out the door. How do you know as an absolute fact that he does not invite input from band members past & present. Hell even W&L have on several occassions let it be known that he let them have a lot of creative freedom. Again..your arguments are too selective.
