Very interesting. I would be very excited to read this if it comes out.

I hope that it's uniquely Prince. His voice. His interpretation of events in his life. I LOVED Dylan's Chronicles Volume 1. It wasn't a straight up autobiography or memoir, but that's what made it great. It was fundamentally Dylan. I hope Prince's book captures his unique view on things in a similar fashion.

Exactly. Too many celebrities write salacious tell-all books that are trashy and reveal details about other people that they had no business including in their memoir. Prince writing about his creative process writing a song, composing, arranging, recording, reheasing bands-would be fascinating because its coming from the source and not third parties exploiting his life story for their gain. Despite contrary public opinion, a memoir can be interesting without gossip.

I'm not expecting Chronicles--but I am interested in seeing what he does.

I will refrain from commenting anything blatantly negative and just say that I predict this book (IF it ever actually comes to fruition, which I have strong doubts about) will be an incredibly frustrating read due to: coy writing, deliberately vague and confusing 'information' (sure to cause many a debate and discussion of "Who is he referring to by that?" and "What he wrote means XXX" with counters of "No no no, he means YYY!" and surely a lot of eyerolling emoticons wink ), HUGE omissions of facts, lots of rewriting of history, and probably the book itself will be short. But lots of (airbrushed) photos of Prince. smile

*

*

Well, I see I was not able to refrain from the negative. lol Sorry.

*

*

I will say a positive: IF this book happens, I do think it will likely contain at least a few bits of gold, I'd bet mainly because of Prince's wit and cleverness with words, and not so much on the content (i.e. INFORMATION) itself.

Those being "negative" might have seen/read all his interviews, official magazines, the 21 Nights Book, or anything he's said/written online ever, and might just be logically keeping their expectations low as they've learned that over hyping an anouncement like this will surely lead to disappointment. How is that negative? cool

That said, I've bought and read well over a dozen books about Prince, I'll be sure to do the same with one that he does himself, even though I expect more than a few cringeworthy moments. wink

2017 is an awfully long time to change his mind. It's not happening. Remasters anyone?

Note: Prince's whole life and musical career has been framed around his mystique. Eveything the man's ever uttered has been indication, suggestion and--quite often--plain 'ole gibberish. There 'ain't no way, EVER, he's gonna give it to you straight.

With that kind of abbreviating, it'll be a pamphlet. Not a book.

Reallly surprising news, when I heard this I must admit I had three initial throughts.

1) For an artist so shrouded by Mystery and Enigma this is a very striking announcement.

2) I think that he will approach this in a very unique way and it will be much more than the average autobiography.

3) For all those who are arguing stating that he will only write what he wishes and leave out details he wishes. This is pretty true of all autobiographies written. Famously, for example, Charlie Chaplin only mentions one of his wives with two paragraphs. It's Prince's right to incude and exclude what he wishes. This does however sound fascinating.

Rapidly realising that this place is a bit of a cess pit of very insecure, bitter people. Fact is that this book WILL be released, it will be filled with riddles (it wouldn't be a true Prince project otherwise!)and it's already made a great impact in the mass media...despite the deluded ones on here who deny his relevance. Personally I'm pleased, WON'T condem it before its released and I am so looking forwards to it

Nonsense.. there's a hard core on here who have grown to hate virtually everything he does.....yet refuse to let go....that in itself tells it's own story.

I liked Dylans book as well. He didn't tell his life story in chronological order, but picked out a phew phases. And he turns out to be a good storyteller. Just like Prince. Which is why I like them both. I don't need a straightforward autobiography which has all the facts. We have people like Per Nilsen for that. Prince's book will probably raise more questions about his life than it'll answer, but I'm sure it will be an interesting read. I'm looking forward to it.

Gotta love how these first two pages are filled with realistic expectations ("ain't gonna happen", "gonna be shite"), except for a few famz who can't stand to be confronted with factual statements.

.

It's really simple: list all of the publications Prince has been involved in and look at their contents.

.

Good luck to his publishers. Guess he found another sucker; I hope they haven't already paid him for this.
