I think he should just tour with a piano and microphone, and try and fill small venues, and big arenas in the space of a few days. Then try and smash it out of the park and get awesome reviews from both the concert goers and critics .Then just maybe, he will be a little more popular.

He should do this tour rest of the year- get a live "Piano & Microphone Tour" album out by summer (forget "being #1 at the bank" there for a sec) and get on talk shows & do a few songs in between tour dates.

Next year, do an all-acoustic tour or do a Revolution tour & release the damn "Purple Rain" Remaster Give out "Roadhouse Garden" as part of the ticket price. Combine those two albums somehow & tour.

Piano + Acoustic + Revolution= Home Run

this here:

But only the true masters of their craft can leave the elements they have come to be known for behind on the cutting room floor and come away with something even more powerful.

There are no artists, alive or dead, who will ever accomplish precisely what Prince has done in a 30-year career that shows no signs of stopping. He is a singular entity, an enigma, and a legend.

Remaster his 80s music and allow itunes and whoever else to stream it; embrace youtube...basically make it easy for the new generation (and future generations) to truly understand how awesome he is/was.

Make it so, Number One...

Yep. And include some outtakes on those remastered releases. It's not that hard really.

Whether Prince is popular or not is of no concern to me. I don't particularly care if his records sell 10,000 copies or 10,000,000 copies. Just as long as they're good.

However, if I was Prince, I would want my albums to be bought by as many people as possible so I would change how I do things a bit.

First of all, I'd announce concrete plans of how I intend to release the remasters. The "early years boxset" would contain remastered versions of For You to 1999, as well as 2 bonus discs of unreleased material from that era.
Maybe 6 months later, I'd announce a one off tour with The Revolution to promote the Purple Rain remaster, which would come in its own boxset, containing the Blu Ray of the movie, with a Prince commentary, and at least one bonus disc of outtakes.
When The Revolution tour is coming towards its end, I'd release the final remasters boxset covering ATWIAD to Lovesexy, again with bonus discs of unreleased music and also include a brand new album in it. Coinciding with this release, I'd have a limited edition boxset featuring all of the above, plus a live DVD of the final performance with The Revolution from the tour.

Also, I'd allow my music and videos on YouTube through an official Youtube channel that would also showcase music from past and present associates like The Time and Andy Allo.

None of the above would be take much work, and I think would guarantee Prince a bigger audience.

Nothing.

It's enough that Prince's simple presence embarrasses today's acts when the audience gives him a widespread standing ovation at award shows.

This may as well be the 80's. Sure he's not a hot, current, charting act anymore (and it's futile to think he ever will be again) but Prince has the star power of a legend.

Two things, firstly allow your songs to be put on YouTube. At least on an official channel. Keeping them off is just getting younger generations asking 'Prince, who?' Plus it's really hard to introduce someone new to Prince's music without it being there for the public to at least sample!

Secondly and most importantly for the fans, release re-issues of your 1978-1988 catalog with bonus tracks and outtakes in the best possible sound quality. (and don't mess with the originals)

Even a reissue of 1999 done like this below would sell far better than a new album and get people to remember/find out just how amazing Prince is:

1999 (Deluxe) 2CD/1DVD

Disc 1

1. 1999

2. Little Red Corvette

3. Delirious

4. Let's Pretend We're Married

5. D.M.S.R.

6. Automatic

7. Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)

8. Free

9. Lady Cab Driver

10. All The Critics Love U In New York

11. International Lover

Disc 2

1. How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore (B-Side)

2. Horny Toad (B-Side)

3. Irresistible Bitch (B-Side)

4. Little Red Corvette (Dance Remix)

5. Do Yourself A Favour (Outtake)

6. Turn It Up (Outtake)

7. Baby You're A Trip (Outtake)

8. Extra Loveable (Outtake)

9. Moonbeam Levels (Outtake)

10. Lust U Always (Instrumental Outtake)
11. Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) (Unreleased Version)

Disc 3:

DVD

Live In Houston '82 / Live In Lakeland '83 + Promotional Videos and Appearances

Giving the fans a little of what they want, and allowing the public to see what Prince is all about, will get people to buy into whatever Prince's new project is in droves!

March: Put all his videos on an official youtube channel. Also put some pro shot videos of his concerts on too... Controversy 1981, Purple Rain Syracuse, Parade, Sign O The Times, LOvesexy, Rave, Live at the Aladdin, Musicology, HitnRun.

April: Reissue a song from Purple Rain as a new single. When Doves Cry?

May: Go on some talk shows make some public apperances. Be active on social media and tease us with Purple Rain reissue. Don't make any announcements, but definitely allude to the era in a few ways.

June: Drop a new single, maybe featuring a current artist who's hot. Rihanna or Kendrick Lamar. Promote the hell out of it. This song has to be a hit. Open up the BET awards in a suprise reunion with the revolution... Do a few Purple Rain songs and then perform the new single with Rihanna or Kendrick.... Officially announce the Purple Rain Reissue at the BET AWARDS.

July: Drop the Purple Rain reissue. 1 edition has the remasted original album and the movie, and the special edition also has an album with BSides and unreleased songs of the era and the Syracuse concert as well. Include the new single as a free download with the album.

August: Announce a stadium tour with the revolution that goes across the country. Perform at VMAs. Opening Act= Miguel or have new Opening acts in every few cities. Big names like The Weeknd, Kendrick, Rihanna...

September- January: Tour time! Have the tour set up in two halves. 1st set Old revolution Material and hits- 2nd set: newer material.

Dead like Elvis.

Release this current tour on DVD for goodness sakes, the Oracle one sounds a good one to chose from the reviews on here and include some highlights from the other shows such as Sydney Opera House, New Zealand etc as bonus footage. And maybe even some of that aftershow after the Orcale as an audio CD included??????????
Man - we are so long over due for an official DVD release it is not funny.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

1000 hugs and kisses was played for months with no promotion or video. Doing some promotion and making a video could have given it a boost. A follow up single with some promotion and a video could build on that success. If he's going to keep touring, work some tv appearances in between tour stops and do local promotional tie ins on the stations playing a new single.

All he needs is COORDINATION. For years he has been unable to leverage huge appearances and shows with any album. Super Bowl a few years ago - no real corresponding album. New Girl appearance - debuted a new song but it wasn't available for weeks and not on an album for years after. Rock and Roll Love Affair - a good video and no album, not on an album for years. Arsenio - no correspondence to the 3EG album or AOA, talking about he can take his time to make an album now. And now an awesome solo tour, handing out HNR2 that's not connected to the tour in any real way.
