Would you rather attend "a piano and a mic tour" or "a acoustic guitar and a mic tour?"

i think the guitar tour would be better...let's list some songs he could do!

Well...all I can say in response to your proposition is...speaking personally, as a fan of his guitar playing, I would have opted for the acoustic guitar initially. Having now experienced the Piano & Mic tour...you become lost in the magic of the moment, and such questions simply do not enter your midset. It's a wonderful show that should be experienced by Prince fans and fans of musicianship in general. To quote every single review I've read this week..."Prince is a genius".

You need to come to terms with his presence when you are there live. Whether he plays guitar, piano, bass or whatever...when you are sharing a musical experience with Prince in person...whatever instrument he opts to express himself with is almost insignificant as it is always a mere extension of himself.

If I had to pick between the two acoustic guitar but I would rather a real show with a band. I would attend the acoustic most likely depending on the cost but will not attend the piano one. A regular show with band no second thoughts, i'm there

Some are better on acoustic ala "reflection"...

Why one or t'other when Prince is so capable/versatile of both in a stripped down one-man show

I would say PIANO at the moment because it's going great guns at the moment. And most people know now that he is a great guitar player. It's something different. He can do the guitar thing another time.

well said...totally agree....
prince is a brilliant guitarist but I dont think I'll ever see a better concert than the one I saw last week.
his voice,an instrument that doesn't get mentioned very much, shone.
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

Having seen the Piano and a Microphone tour, I can't imagine how he could do a better solo show than that.

But then again, it's Prince biggrin

Hmm. The piano is less limiting musicially than the accoustic guitar. On piano, he can play the full bass lines and wider chord inversions under the melodies. Plus, it sounds bigger and more varied throughout a 2 hour show. But it's Prince, he would choose a set list catering to the accoustic guitar and blow your mind with a completely different amazing experience to the piano shows.

If Prince had a tour where he was just belching into a mason jar and making noises with his armpits, I would buy a front row seat and justs smile because it would be just him - no Josh, no useless underage broads, no EDM nonsense

Yes indeed. This is exactly why a piano is superior for a solo show. Well said.

Totally agree with both commenters (I was in Sydney) and want to emphasise that Prince's voice is IT. His voice, his singing makes all the difference. And his charisma. He had the audience wrapped around his little finger by just walking onto the stage.

Piano. I've been hoping he'd do this for many years.

Both. Each has a different effect on the human body and Spirit, in my opion. Either way, it is fresh to experience his energy not being comingled with the band when he plays solo.

To me this is the most important point, if I were forced to choose.

I'm sure the acoustic guitar would be very intimate and interesting,

but I don't see how it coiuld possibly create the same range as a piano accompaniment.

Besides I think he could show his uniqueness more instrumentally on piano than acoustic guitar.

Piano. He´s great on the acoustic guitar but for a show that´s longer than one hour the piano is the best instrument for himself and for the audience.

More range, more possibilities, a better atmosphere, and probably more songs to choose from.

This is one of the best ideas Prince has had in a long time. I love the way he tells little stories in between songs without making it sound like propaganda for his views and without going too much into conspiracy theory territory or religion.

The setlist contains many hits but also many lesser played songs that sound very interesting when played on the piano.

And Prince seems to feel very comfortable doing what he´s doing.

A very interesting concept and great delivery, especially with the little storytelling and great choice of songs.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I've always loved his piano playing, and we never really get to see the full spectrum of that live.
And I love this Piano touring
