She's Always in My Hair (12" Version)

So, recently I've purchase 'Ultimate Prince' because it had some Remix's/12"s on it that I've never heard before. I really loved all the other remixes, but the 'She's Always in My Hair (12" Version)' is of Mythical quality. Before I was only familiar with the B-Side version but this 12" version is absolutely amazing!

---

Is this easily the best 12" version of any Prince song?...What do you all think of this version?

Truth is, I'm not that impressed by it. It's a typical example that making a song longer, doesn't always make it better. 12" versions that do improve on the single are, in my opinion, eye Wish U Heaven, Let's Go Crazy, Kiss, Thieves In the Temple... And as for b-sides, La La La He He Hee, Scarlet Pussy...

It's amazing. SAIMH is one of my top ten fave Prince tracks of all time and making it longer only makes it better.

Great track, great extended version. Just imagine what a great compilation Ultimate would have been if cd1 had 12" versions as well.

As much I love live performances of She's Always in My Hair, it would be even more incredible if he performed it like the 12" Version. cloud9

Excellent song with some of Princ'e finest songwriting.

Only ever listen to the 12" version - no edit.

But his greatest 12" is "I Wish U Heaven" - it is a real journey of musical syle

Prince didn't make the song longer to make it better. The 12" version is the original full length recording. You're just used to the 7" edit. That being said the 12" version is the definitive version. The ending is so powerful! music

In my personal 80's P 12" Top 3 with "Mountains (Extended)" and "Pop Life (Extended Version)".

I would add "Feel U Up (Long Stroke)" and "Shockadelica (Long Version)", but technically they are full lenght versions and not proper extended takes.

Autobiographical of a girl in the summer of 85 that wouldn't leave me alone. I was obsessed with this song. Like she was of me. The 12" puts me in ecstacy.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I purchased the 12" for Raspberry Beret. Afer I listed to it a couple of times, I flipped the record over and heard She's Always in My Hair. That was 1985, and this has been my all time favorite song ever since....

lol, it was actually an compliment. When Prince starts screaming "My hair, my haaaaaair" then the keyboard mixed in with the drum kick machine was godtier!

This is the song that got me hooked for life. I was a fan since 82, but this is the one that solidified it for life. I remember getting the 12" for Raspberry Beret as i was in love with THAT song...then i flipped it over and heard THIS and was completely blown away. Its been in constant rotation since.
