I'm really trippin' hard on Pointer Sisters' 1983 album Break Out, it's an absolute electrofunk classic and one of few albums that could rival with P's records in the genre at the time.

I couldn't help notice that the album features 2 songs with similar titles to P's songs: Automatic and Dance Electric.

Knowing Prince I wouldn't be surprised if he'd borrowed the second because they'd borrowed the first from him

Has anyone involved in Break Out ever talked about this?

Haha, just a coincidence I think - That time when synths were becoming more and more prominent in pop music, a lot of artists were writing songs using electric/computer metaphors.

It's interesting to see how much Prince was being covered so early in his career, prior to PR.

The thing about Prince's Automatic and The Pointer Sister's song is that the PS track was a HIT and is still a dance-club and radio classic, while Prince's song is.... not so much

Correct, don't even think he or she is a fan. I have never gone on a fansite of a artist i don't like. I would love to know what drives the person or persons to even have the time to do that. Is something wrong with them , or is it a game.
