Please - quit pussy-footing around and tell us how you really feel.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

TheDigitalGardener said: If that's the way you feel, you'd better stop listening to pop music altogether. There's nobody in pop music that hasn't been influenced by them in one way or another. Even James Brown covered Something. That's a song I'd like Prince to do. Or Get Back...

Yeah I know all that crap. They're still shit.

OMG, I could not agree more. I don't like the Beatles so why would I want to hear Prince play songs I don't like?

I think it's safe to say that the world would have kept turning if the Beatles didn't exist. To say they are that important is reaching. Pop already existed and would have continued without them.

Interested to hear your perspective on this

Here. There. And everywhere

My original thought (even though I'm a big fan of the Beatles) was that I didn't want to hear any of them--I haven't cared for the few times he has done anything with them in the past. But this is actually a good idea--Here, There, and Everywhere feels a lot like the sort of dreamy wisp of a ballad that he's done every once in a while back to Crazy You through to Girl Thing. I could get into this one.

The world would have kept turning, of course. Pop music would still exist, but it would sound nothing like it does today. You don't think ATWIAD owes a HUGE debt to the Beatles? If you could talk to Prince and he was in the mood to be open and honest and not offended that you weren't talking about him, he would tell you that the Beatles changed everything. I'm not saying that because I'm a Beatles super fan, I'm saying it because it's the truth. It's cool that you don't like them. i don't like every single thing they did, but with a historical perspective you'd see they pushed musical boundries. What you're saying is the same thing is saying that if Jesus had never existed the world of religion would've kept on truckin' and everything would be the same. Ridiculous.

NOW we're getting somewhere. Nobody here is telling anybody what they should or should not like. But at least you acknowledged that the Fab Four were important even if you put it between "".

Well you are rude now eh? I didn't call anyone names because I don't care for them or not find them significant. Clueless? So would we all be living like in the book the Time Machine with morlocks using us for food if the Beatles didn't come along? Music would not have missed a beat.

I gotta say I'm surprised at all the suggestions of Hey Bulldog. Ask me every day for a week what my favorite Beatles track is and I'll say Hey Bulldog on at least two of them (all the top songs are so close in my estimation), but I rarely see much love for it anywhere. Not sure I'd like to hear Prince do it, but sure--take a shot, P!

He played Come Together a lot from 2006 - 2011. Including at Coachella, 3121 in Las Vegas, 2007 Earth Tour in the Indigo and the Hop Farm Festival. Also, he performed on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' at the Rock 'n' Roll hall of Fame. Personally, I don't think he should do covers unless they mean something to him.
