It's really odd TRC and TGE go for such expensive prices. I didn't think anyone was that interested.

.

You should get Lotusflow3r from your list as the artwork is stunning on this large format. The spine is very wide and as such the whole packaging feels great quality.

.

Amazon France have the recent re-press which includes the CD:

I just remembered that MPLS Sound is also on Vinyl. The artwork for this one is amazing so it's great to see on a large format as it works really well.

Another one for your list... wink

What's the advantage of the extra 40 grams? Won't it make it spin slower?

Heavier/thicker disc means deeper grooves can be cut which should mean better quality and clarity. Also means the disc is just that bit sturdier. It's not a rule that 180g releases are better as so much depends on mastering and pressing with vinyl, but generally 180g releases will cost a bit more and have a bit of extra attention lavished on them (e.g thick gatefold sleeve, printed inner sleeves etc)

very debatable... many audiophiles say, it has no difference what so ever...

Yeah that's why I used the word "should"
Was just giving a couple of examples why people might choose to press/buy 180G
Many audiophiles say things like they're absolute
I don't

Just to show what is being done for other artists: half-speed mastered vinyl.

.

You'd think "mister audio quality" would jump at the chance to present his music in as great as possible quality, but apparently it is more important to him that he feels he's getting paid enough.

I dropped almost $200 on a copy of a half-speed mastered Thriller straight from '82. It's easily one of the best sounding vinyls I own. Now imagine how Sign O' the Times or Purple Rain would sound in this format. But no, fuck the fans and my rapidly diminishing relevance, "give me $20 million dollars record companies! I deserve it! Look, I can barely sell out 10,000 copies of my albums!!"

Personally..... I would gladly spend $ 39,99 on every release from For You to Lovesexy. wink

In case the vinyls are 180 grams Deluxe, and maybe even remastered....

Yes. That would be a delicious treat....... eek love

Mine was a brand new, still sealed 1st pressing. The price is reasonable because 1st pressings of Thriller are highly sought after due to them having the best sound (before the vinyl lacquers to press the album starting to wear out due to the damn thing selling a million a week at one point!)

Here's a used one going for almost double the price I bought a new one for (Japan pressings are less sought after than US ones):

...you pays your money and you take your choice but - to be honest - I think you're probably better off scouting out decent second hand copies (for Prince and others) compared to all the half-speed mastered, 180 grams stuff.

Sure, they may sound better but there are so many factors in this (from bad pressings to poor and / or poorly set up listening equipment) ...the whole thing is so bloody subjective and fuelled by people who'll spend all day arguing black is white!!!!!
