Toni Braxton talking about Prince helping her

On YT Sway in the morning. Toni said Prince was the one artist to reach out and help her when she was up in arms with her label. He got in touch with her and got her some lawyers. He helped her a lot. She referred to him as her big brother. I never knew about this. very cool

Review: The Prince Panel Discussion With Touré, L.A. Reid & Susannah Melvoin

L.A. Reid talked about how Prince called him when he had no name and wanted to talk to him. He picked up the phone and Prince started by saying "How can you sell what belongs to our people just to work for them?" He was talking about when L.A. Reid and Babyface were selling the LAFace record label. Reid was surprised by Prince because that was the first time they ever talked and he was talking to him like he knew him his entire life.

He said Prince would constantly fax him messages to "Free TLC" all the time. He said that Prince had a big problem with TLC having to file for bankruptcy with the hits they were having like "Waterfalls".

Reid then talked about Prince performing in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre with Larry Graham and Chaka Khan and wanting to make sure that L.A. Reid came. He called him several times and even called his secretary the day of to make sure he was coming.

He arrived and during the show, Prince saw him and looked at Reid and said "Slavery is still alive in the South." TLC at that time was still was not freed...or paid.

Reid said he sat there in shock as everyone around him looked at him. During the next song, Reid said he left with his tail between his legs .

Later on, after Prince found out how much TLC was paid, he stopped talking to him about it.

Any more info on this part? Was TLC paid a lot and just losing their money or something?

I'll pull more up.

I think what happened with TLC is the same that happened to Toni Braxton. (And Sheila E ) the spent with the entourage and lavished lifestyle, but didn't realized they were spending more than they were making (something like that) But of course all of their producers were raking in more than the actual entertainers.

I believe LA Reid and Babyface were both over TLC & Toni Braxton... But over TLC was Pebbles

I was at the first Fox show.....Did not hear all what Reid is saying he said..

Chaka never appeared during that show...Only Larry...

Chaka made her own tour stop with Patti Labelle back then..

I believe Reid though... Prince was booked for 3 nights back then..Every night was different according to those who saw all 3. Maybe, Reid, Babyface, Toni, and TLC were at one of the other shows.

Reid and Dalls Austin attended "The Jam of The Year" Tour stop the year before..

Mr. Nelson said, "L.A. Reid..I saw your house!!! It's nice!!!" (in his "CloreenBaconskin" comedic voice..)

T-Boz and her husband were at The Musicology tourstop...
