Using Madonna's infamous word... it seems good old Prince is "reductive." But that's OK, might as well borrow ideas from the greats and then the original idea will live on much longer. However, if you caught any of the HITnRUN shows, the trend that I'm finding more disturbing with Prince is when he covers other people's songs, doesn't give credit 2 the original artists, and then confuses the audience in2 thinking that he wrote the track. He'll squeeze these covers in-between his songs, sometimes mashes them up with his songs, and then will declare right after: "I have too many hits and not enough time." I just wish that he'd perform his own music 100% of the time; he has no shortage of masterpieces.

--- He said 20 fucking years ago some songs he was not going to perform due to their lyrical content. He has put in cover songs to take the place of those songs in the show. Is this really so hard to figure out? If you do not know Prince songs from the covers why are you even at the show? Goggle is your friend it makes it really easy to find out stuff.

it's funny because at one nude tour rehearsal he told a member of the band "who's song is that? we don't sing songs we didn't write" he has 30+ years of material yet he plays covers (corny ones at that) and a sampler set. smh

at least back in the day he played good covers. there's only so many times i can stomach "play that funky music" and sly songs.

So a band member at rehearsal just broke into another artist's song? I dont think i've heard it but i think you're misquoting Prince when he has a little dig at Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis during "What Have You Done for me Lately?" "Who wrote that?" a poke for once firing them or a poke for basing their whole sound on one he basically invented.

The fucking point is that instead of those fucking songs with dirty lyrics, he could fucking perform

songs from his own fucking catalogue that don't contain any lewd or offensive content, like Can't Stop This Feeling I Got, New Power Generation, Arms Of Orion, Around The World In A Day, Strollin', 4 The Tears In Your Eyes, I Wish U Heaven, Elephants & Flowers, Hide The Bone, Calhoun Square, get Wild etc etc

It's astonishing people need to have jokes explained to them.
