The profile of a Prince fan

In the UK there is an organisation called YouGov. They collect data and generate profiles. So that brands/businesses can identify how to best target their customers.

This only applies to the UK. I'll put a link to the Prince page at the bottom for anyone who cares. So here are some "facts" about the average UK Prince fan.

Demographic: Male, age 40-54, Social Grade ABC1, tending to lean to the left politically. Mainly working in research/development. With about £1000 "spare" each month

Wales is apparently his key UK region.

Lifestyle: You like Travel, Formula 1, Music & the arts, and are more likely to own a cat.

There are loads of other stats on the site, these were just some of the first. Some of it is insteresting, while some stats just seem odd.

Here's the site: https://yougov.co.uk/profileslite#/Prince/demographics

Only four things correct , I have cats and I like Minder as one of my fav shows and Simple Minds as one of my fav bands. I like to buy physical copies of CD's and Vinyls , but i think that is just a age thing. So they say Prince fans are lazy lol for real? WRONGGGGGGGG eek

I'm not sure it's BS. Though I agree there are some silly stats up there.

YouGov didn't set out to collect data on Prince fans per se. They collect data in general, and over time enough people have included the name "Prince" under "what music do you like". Thus over time these stats can be compiled and used to generate "profiles" of brands etc.

Truth be told I was watching "Dave Gorman Modern Life is Goodish" where he used data from the YouGov site in his stand-up routine. So I decided to have a look at what data they had on people who said they were fans of Prince.

Not bad, no idea about the geography, don't know any Welsh fans, but pretty accurate I reckon. When I lived in the UK I worked in research, but now I have left the country and turned 40 I have dogs and I don't really like or haven't seen any of those TV shows. Like all the bands. And Purple Rain wouldn't be in my top 1000 movies. And I don't even know half the brands.

I am a very creative person who loves arts and craft however, I don't like cats. I am a dog person for sure. Interesting article.

Posted about that last year. Looks like the sample size has more than doubled since then.
