I hear a touch of reggae buried in the groove to 17 Days. If he went down that route i'd be happy. Blue Light.... not so much

Couldn't be any worse than some of the shit he's been putting out lately. Fire up some dreads get the whole reggae band thing going on, it could work,be just as good as this afro 3 lens glasses wearing goofy girl band nonsense hes doin. He can throw in some scarlett pussy voices n whatever else n make it his own. Hook up with some famous rasta musicians n work it. Ya one big glass lens n dread with green, black n gold funky costumes ..

Prince and reggae are a pretty satanic combination imo. Blue Light is pleasant and inoffensive, Rippopgodazippa is ok in small doses, mainly due to the horns and the swang of the track.

The ragga part in The Sun, the Moon & Stars spoils the whole track.

I Rock Therefore I Am is one of the very very few Prince tracks I deny the existance of. Prince goes ragga shoot3

Splash is the best venture into that flavor so far to my ears. Because it appropriates it, doesn't try to be it.

I like all the songs mentioned, although I dont hear a reggae vibe in Splash much. Ripop has always been in cool ass song, clever and catchy. easy to sing along to with that chorus lol. Sun Moon and stars has always been dope and favorite of mine. And when the beat changed up into the reaggae groove, it was like damn. Rhyming was on point. But I would like him to do More reggae styled tracks aswell

He should do a track with Damian Marley, or possibly Protoje. That could be pretty cool indeed.

Couldn't agree more. An intrusive and out of place insert in an otherwise wonderful tune.

I never understood how P sometimes can go so wrong with musical choice.

lol

Some music styles that are too identifiable like Reggae don't always work with Prince. Also Latin music

His music always works best with touchs of other genre that aren't direct translations of the style.

Reggae's my first love music wise, raised on it. Lots a Dub, Roots, Lovers rock etc.
I liked most of the tracks mentioned, but in my subjective opinion Prince doesn't really get it, & should leave it the raas alone.
