WTF... SECRET PLACE... TIDAL

The U.S. version of TIDAL put this strange album Secret Place by another artist called PRINCE under Prince's album section...

This is obviously a mess up, anyone else see it?

It's on the UK Tidal as well. Judging by the track listing it's obviously a gospel or Christian album. If Prince has pissed them off maybe it's a deliberate dig!!

What a shame P has pulled out of the Tidal concert for reasons unknown. It would have been massive publicity for him. I hope we still get Phase Two!! sad

Maybe if you didn't suppose, presume, assume and hypothetize to death, you'd stop reading meaning into everything.

Too funny, the evidence is starting to pile up......drops out of concert, no real purple pick, weird crap showin up on his Tidal library. He clearly pissed someone off over there or vice versa. If all Prince stuff is gone tomorrow it would not surprise me. It would be damn unfortunate, but I have been a fan long enough to realize these things seldom last.

These things aren't vetted often with smaller companies like Tidal (they are small as opposed to Spotify, Google Play Music, Apple Music).

I could submit a track through my distributor right now under the artist name of "Elvis Presley" and in a couple of days it'd show up on Tidal under Elvis's page. Some of the sites would probably reject it, but my guess is Tidal don't have enough people on the ground to vet all those things, and they rely on people reporting things like that after the fact.

What I'm saying is, don't take this as evidence that "Prince pissed someone off" at Tidal. To lump this together with him dropping out of the concert doesn't make sense.

That fella used to be under Prince in Spotify (and Deezer) as well until it was fixed. Like Militant says, it's just a matter of manpower.

eek

No copyright laws at all in Zambia really. Whilst there may legislation in certain areas, there is no policing and the courts of law will not hear a copyright case. They are too busy taking bribes from politicians to dismiss the corruption charges against them.

.

Oh look, someone is ignoring the fact that Prince's Tidal presence required custom programming so his camp could maintain the "similar artists" pages. Becuase heaven forbids D'Angelo is linked there.

.

Prince can never fail, he can only be failed.

Please. A little bit of custom code on a profile page doesn't override the standard digital distribution system.

Question for you - do YOU have any music on Tidal? Or Spotify? or Google Play Music? or Apple Music?

Because I do, and I understand every step of the digital distribution chain.

Like I said - no vetting system, so stuff like this slips through the cracks until somebody reports it. You think Tidal has enough manpower to have their staff look at ONE artist's page every single day? Haha.

Prince has got bored with Tidal already - his album is not exclusive, he's pulled out of the concert and his Purple Pick of the week is a playlist that was available last week!

Do or do not, there is no try...

yes all of Prince's music on Tidal will probably be gone before the end of the week, I had a feeling it wouldn't last long. Unfortunately it might also mean no phase 2.. Well time will tell

And I repeat: in several interviews Prince boasted about how they were doing things their way on Tidal. Which means that they maintained what artists Prince's page links to, and even what can be seen on those pages they linked to. Yet that same team somehow can't prevent some lame-ass appearing on PRINCE'S OWN PAGE?

This would have taken them 5 minutes. Maybe less.

So I repeat: They don't have the manpower to have their staff maintaining individual pages on a daily basis.

They don't vet anything before the fact. Even Apple, who have LITERALLY HUNDREDS more engineers working on Apple Music, don't do that. Bootlegs pop up all the time on iTunes and Apple Music. There was even a bootleg of Prince's acoustic version of "Love" up there a few weeks ago.

These digital services take things down AFTER they get reported. Not before. Why? Because it takes considerably less manpower to deal with these things after the fact. Vetting everything before the fact just isn't realistic when these services are adding thousands of new songs every day.

And also, very few of them have a system set up for multiple artists who have the same name.
