Implied swearing on HITnRUN

Ok, so we all know that Prince does not 'speak' swears as it is against his JW faith, however, whether you speak a swear, or imply it, as in the HITnRUN album by simply leaving the swear word out of the sentence, the end result is the still same, that being the complete thought, swear included, is now in the listeners head.

It is not just HITnRUN, but implied swearing has been around well, since he stopped swearing, and that is cool, he can do whatever wants, and I don't mind it one bit, I simply find it an interesting observation and perplexing why someone who is so against swearing will still plant the thought in folks minds.

Peace

Yep, agreed. And it's so much better than "we don't give a DUCK what you got on",hated that.
And when he sings something on AOA's 'FUNKNROLL' that sounds so much like 'motherfucker' you know exactly why he said it!

What I think is crazy is that if you don't want to say the word 'ass', don't write it into your lyrics.

You were expecting Prince to be logical? What the duck? lol

I agree - if your stance is to not use swear words, then don't imply them either. Doing what he does makes him look silly - as though he thinks there is some kind of boogeyman spell released when he utters particular combinations of consonants and vowels.

yeahthat This post is exactly what I've been saying and I've been saying it since Rainbow Children (What the duck).

There are at least 3 instances on the new album, and at least 1 (2?) are for the mild "ass". Really, Prince?!? Ass is too awful to say but not to awful to include it but then censor yourself. What kind of bullst is that?

Nah, it's something else cuz he did it on TRC which is not at all disposable. Just tainted by this kind of shenanigans.

That's an insulting generalization. Certainly we've all known people it applies to, but for instance, I don't know anyone else that believes words can be bad that still says them but self censors in a way you know exactly what they mean. In my experience, Prince is unique in this respect.

Hypocrisy. One of the main things I don't like about Prince's image and music these days. He clearly still curses.

It's just another transitional phase; Nasty Prince is cumming back(!) Think about how many hip hop artists careers would be dead in the water if they couldn't use the NWord to help sell music. Prince used to only espouse veganism too, but he's back to including non vegan references.*

My wife had to cut milk and soy out of her diet (which means OUR diet) because our daughter has milk protein sensitivities. There are DEFINITELY vegan cheeses. And they're more experimental than HnR.
