I have a question that probably doesn't need it's own thread so for those of you with physical copies of the album perhaps you are able to help out.

My question is - if you look at the credits are all of the mixing credits under Joshua Welton? Or was another engineer used for mixing?

Also who has the mastering credit for the album?

As for the sales, The covers inherent similarity to Art Official Age doesn't lend to triggering the mental curiosity the mind would have for a new product from one of music's most legendary acts

The real question is why you didn't buy it ?

Week 2 Billboard 200 at #75, not too much of a drop from first week being at #70.

.

70 -> 75 -> 81 -> 88 -> 96 -> 104...

.

Or worse.

for the very casual fan, the cover is perhaps also too much like AOA. i get them mixed
up myself if i'm only glancing, when they appear on the computer as small thumbnails.

the whole project feels like it doesn't have an identity or a sense of purpose. and i like
the bulk of the songs, so i'm not saying that as some disgruntled fan lol

30,000 copies worldwide is just rediculous. that's nothing to do with the music itself,

because a lot worse sells a lot better out there. it's about people not being aware of
his product, combined with a lot of people who are sick of playing the prince game, at

least as far as i can tell. 2 decades of strange marketing, weird releases and games
seem to be taking their toll. it's very sad to see, but it's largely prince to blame.

Prince got the sales he deserved.

Week 3 it's already off the Hits Daily Double Top 50 Chart indicating sales under 4,000...

Looks like HitnRun so far based on 3 weeks of sales is his lowest selling album ever.

Good!

Hopefully this fact causes some creativity in the studio to occur, perhaps evolving into a few fesh masterpieces.

The album physical release is just a novelty for hard core fans. The main idea was to promote Tidal streaming service. If he wanted more sales Prince would have promoted more heavily.

I agree with that. Prince has a PhD in self-promotion, like Madonna he was often called a self-marketing genius in the old days, he knows exactly what he could do to sell as many records as possible but he's intentionally not doing it.

He can't be the old cocky Prince that would wear bare ass chaps to promote his record due to his religious belief. He also believes he should be able to release tons of music and get an honest wage out of it, if he wanted it to sell like hot cakes he'd go back to doing Partyman-style videos

I just think the world is long past tired of Prince and has moved on for (semi)good.

His weird behavior is well past it's expiration date, and he's released a few too many dogs for anyone to buy a new CD blind.

Now, if every 3 years he released an honest effort album with top shelf material & marketed it the tried and true ways (proper label, videos, tour, TV appearances) then maybe he would find success.

I don't think he's really trying for success anymore, he's doing music because it's in his soul and blood. To be Honest I'm suprised he's still in the music business, but it's his passion. I'm glad he at least hasn't lost his passion to explore

It's out of the top 200 in the first week... This album hasn't even sold more than N.E.W.S. sold in the U.S. worldwide.

Nah. Prince provided some of the greatest listening experiences of my life with "Parade", "SOTT", "Lovesexy"- so the curiosity will always exist-for what he's up to. I think a lot of hangers-on are the same smile
