Will You Stay With Tidal?

You signed up at Tidal for the free trial.
Phase Two starts after your free trial period.
Will you stay with Tidal for Phase Two since
it will mean paying for Tidal?

I am still far away from a Tidal subscription. The couple of things that would make me got there and stay are:

1) Weekly Purple Picks until the end of time

2) A new album every 6 months

3) An entrance to the vault by popular demand, i.e. "we want the dream factory album" or whatever

.

I'm going to try and use alternate email addresses to get a couple more free trial months out of them, and hope that Prince releases the stuff that isn't on CD (C-Note, Xpectation, Slaughterhouse, Choclate Invasion) in a physical format! I would love to own those albums on vinyl...

I think Prince will release phase 2 and 3 the following months + the rest of his old albums to make ppl stay on Tidal, could be the reason why not albums are released at once. No I won't stay on Tidal since I barely use streaming services, I prefer to download the music. But if he's releasing loads of unreleased material on Tidal then I might change my mind..

Not if I know he's releasing the next Phase on CD a week later.

That said I do love the convenience of having so much great sounding music available to play and I mean all the music that is on Tidal. But the price is murder.

I was with TIDAL before the Prince exclusives and plan to remain. I was with Beats Music before they transitioned to Apple Music and despite being a Mac/iEverything guy, Apple's cloud services have always been dubious, so instead of going to Apple Music I switched to TIDAL. Stories like this make me feel good about that decision:

http://www.loopinsight.co...e-with-it/

Anyway, I'm on the 9.99 tier because the sound I was getting from Beats was good enough for me and the TIDAL standard audio is the same thing. You don't have to spend the extra money for the lossless FLAC streaming if you don't wan't to. In addition to saving me a ton of money on Funkytowngrooves reissues as I see many of them there like this expanded remaster of Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio's "A Woman Needs Love" (tidal.com/album/29914905) I love TIDAL's curated playlists and artist discovery features. I also feel they've been unfairly dogpiled in the press by people with agendas and axes to grind, but that's another story.

Oh, and also the live streaming events and on-demand video.

I didn't sign up for the trial but should Phase 2 and/or 3 contain the ONLY thing I actually want at this point, NUMEROUS VIDEOS OF FULL LENGTH CONCERTS FROM 1980 - 1989 then I would very happily join and stay. woot!

Anything less than that, HELL FUCK NO! hmph!

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I will not for just for Prince content but that is an added bonus.

I've totally come round to streaming music. There are so many benefits to it. The Cd's I buy from now on will be few and far between.

I gave just bought some Sonos speakers and they sound great. I play to get a sonos connect for my main hifi also.

Actual unreleased material as the Purple Pick of the Week will do it for me. The already-released-on-Spotify Stare doesn't bode too well though. If we get a cassette rip of Horny Pony, then we know this isn't what any of us want.

I reckon doing it properly could be worth up to half a million dollars a month to Tidal.

So far very pleased with Tidal.
I honestly dont buy cds or lps anymore outside of the latest Prince releases.
The monthly fee is like a fifth of what i used to spend per month when i was buying physical discs 15 yrs ago...
So I will definitely stay on Tidal.

Never signed up in the first place. This is a hoop I just will not jump through. I dig the album, but give me the actual, physical CD to purchase at a reasonable price (not more than $10) and I'm there. He seems to not want "fans" but is willing to go to whatever lengths to get us to follow him like fanatics, oh, I'm sorry, "hardcore fans."

Tidal is great. The HD files sound amazing. However, I'm a Rhapsody subscriber. I'll stick with Rhapsody unless Tidal comes up with something more to entice me.

I took the free 3 month offer for both Tidal and Apple Music. I honesty have not gave either a fair shot. I am still using Spotify as go-to music app. Not that either is worse, it's just that neither have anything compelling enough to make the switch to. I'm happy with Spotify and change takes effort. I'm lazy that way.

Now if I absolutely hated Spotify that would be a different issue. I hate time warner cable, so I have tried all of the competition and so far I like FIOS the best and made the switch.

If it ain't broke why change it.

I wish nothing but the best to Tidal

I'll stay with tidal for more things like 'indifference'...they'll get me with VIDEO

plus i'm not impressed with the supposed superior sound...there are alot of loudness issues on not just hnr, but other albums in Princes catalogue too.

But yeah I'll stay for phase 2 & 3 smile

If Prince's curated material is good and he's consistent with offering other 'treats' and exclusives, yes.

Overall, I find the Tidal a pleasure to use and it has loads of other music I'm interested in, even relatively niche titles.

Not sure that I will stay after the free 30 days are up. If there was a way to download and keep the music,....well that would be anoother story.

I like Tidal. Don't think I'll keep it at the $20 tier but maybe I'll keep it at the $10 tier for a month or two. Money's tight but it's been a pretty good service so far.

Listened to Andre Cymone's latest album so it already saved me $9 lol

I'll keep it for another 1 or 2 months, for the Prince music and all the other artists. After that, I'll probably cancel it unless there's some really compelling reason to stay.

yeah, "for a musician" not sure why underwhelming Tidal is such a good platform since sound quality is their bread and butter

ya...i tried and cancelled the apple music service --- i may downgrade to the 9.99 level - i dont find the sound to be worth the extra expense, tidal does have the 'offline' option which i like.... apple music does not...so i'll give this a little while, see if prince adds worthwhile content ----

There were other ways of obtaining the album.

I like it.. I like the quality of the HD stuff and the sheer availability of stuff I probably wouldn't purchase to try out. I don't subscribe to any other streaming service, and the price isn't bad at all.. As I use it more I'll decide whether I'll stick with the Hi-Fi or Premium version.

Change it one more time..

Hell, I joined assuming I would only stay for the trial period, but after perusing the site, and seeing how the UI is organized, I love this service vs Spotify or Pandora or even iTunes. I've already discovered tons of music that I wouldn't have otherwise heard via Tidal Rising and Tidal Discovery. I haven't listened to anything Prince related except Hit n Run. And, the hi-fi option seems interesting; I haven't tried it yet with anything except headphones, but I'm going to run it through my amp next weekend to see if I can actually tell that it's "hi-fi" quality. But bottom line, the ease with which I have found other music has me sold on it.

depends on how the next 3 weeks go. I'd likely stay as long as there is new prince music appearing regularly. I'm skeptical that it will last, though. Hope I'm wrong.

I am debating on it...I have never used streaming music services before this but Tidal is pretty nice. It has everything I could ever want to listen to on it. The fact that you can't save the Prince songs is not that big of deal if you know what you are doing.

purple pick of the week is this week "Stones" by The Golden Hippie, so not a prince track sad

beyond the purple pick of the week, which is now turning out to be all sorts or loose ends

and bits and bobs with little substance (probably, i hope i'm proved wrong in future), there
is really no need for me to stay at tidal, especially since prince himself isn't even staying

with tidal exclusively, since the album is now available in more places as download and as

physical than a lot of his previous albums were. lol
