Did HARDROCKLOVER change your mind a bit?

hi,

I have to say, listening to this song,

it's growing on me.

this song is more than OK,

it's more than just decent.

af first I was like "oh no,not a new dud".

I've changed my mind a bit.

maybe the album will be good too.

I never thought I would say that

about a new Prince album.

HARDROCKLOVER is dope.

it's different.

Kind of. If half the album is the HARDROCKLOVER standard and the other half is like STARE. I'll be more than happy withh that.

And then there is the remix of THIS COULD B US... :/

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Ots actualyl a nice song. Would have more effect if there was a video to go with it. Its a dark tune that could use some imagry like Breakfast Can Wait. Now when I listen to BCW it doesnt just seem like a one off internet single packed in the middle of AOA. Baltimore actually has more of an effect to me by having an official video with it in my opinion now, I hope it is on this record.

One of the things I hope is that there are some EQ tweaks in the song. There are tribal drums that kind of remind me of Kanye West in the background during chorus' guitar solo, I'd like to hear those enchanced... However that is fine if it is not. Just want the album to be funky, keep me dancing and good.

I like the song, and I like the premise of "She dared me to live up to her dreams", but the lyrics like "Red Bull and Patron" and "rapper trying to be a star" lower the song quite a bit. Were there no other suitable lyrics for those areas?

.

The guitar work is really cool though.

ok,I agree some moments the lyrics

aren't that good.

(however talking about Sade and Babyface, saying

"RnB ain't got no place"in what is in it's heart

an RnB song is cool).

but for me these are minor incidents

this time around for some reason.

all the instruments and the vocals(Prince can still SING)

are great though.

I really like the song too, bet it would be great live. The only think is it doesnt seem to fit with the studio/ electronic sound of the other songs that people have heard. but we will so find out how it fits.

I always find it awkward as hell when Prince references other singers and musicians. When he does it in a subtle way like on Dorothy Parker, it's fine. But he's often so on the nose. Sade (twice), Babyface, D'Angelo, Santana, etc. His references are clumsy.

At first I hated it. Thought maybe I needed a cup of coffee, and gave it a few more chances. Still didn't like it, and thought it sounded forced. Then, I thought it was growing on me. Now, I skip it. I guess I just don't care for it. I do like moments from it, though.

I feel like it's trying to be edgy, but the concept of a Hard Rock Lover just isn't very edgy. Maybe if she was a Grindcore Lover. lol

I've listened to it about four times and I'm still not feeling it. Maybe it will grow on me. The song has no rhythm, which isn't necessarily the kiss of death, but I prefer pop/funky Prince to straight-rock Prince.

It changed my mind a bit. I'll take this Prince over this-is-my-radio-hit Prince.

I have come around to appreciate Hardrocklover - it's a solid track. I think I have warmed up to it even more since TCBU remix came out - it's horrible and makes its precursors sound like pure gold. So, if anything, TCBU remix has changed my mind.

I'm all for optimism. Hardrocklover is a nice effort. TCBU remix is abysmal.

.

Hardrocklover is not as good as TCBU remix is bad.

.

Both are on the album.

.

That adds up to an album that could be great or terrible. I hope it's great. But I'm concerned.

.

The Tidal exclusive is a pain in the ass for his closest followers.

I probably wouldn't care much for the st-st-stuttering effects on any song, be it Prince or not. I just don't like it. That's not a slam on This Could B Us -- which on AOA is IMO quite beautiful.

.

I don't like the Chipmunk voice on Breakfast Can Wait, and I don't like the chimp noises on X's face either. I don't think those extraneous bits are needed on a Prince song.

Hardrocklover is weak, uninspired nonsense. Songs like this and Stare are amongst some of his weakest work since High.
