HARDROCKLOV3R vs. Stare vs. This Could Be Us (reloaded)

Which of the 3 do you dig the most and why?

For me, HARDROCKLOV3R is my favorite.

His scream at the end of the third verse = EPIC!!

"She likes to paaaaaaaarty hard, she's a hard rock lover!" = sexy

His guitar work is fantastic for one of his studio songs

That 'new' sound in the beginning of the song is catchy.

I'm a big fan of this track.

Stare and This Could Be Us (reloaded) have grown on me but don't grab me as much as HARDROCKLOV3R

When I play Stare and This Could Be Us (reloaded) for my friends who are musicians, they love them just as much

Hardrocklover by a mile. Its a great hybrid of the aoa sound and 3rdeyegirl.I was hoping for more tracks like this on Hitandrun but it seems like it will be more like aoa.

HARDROCKLOVER is great. It's the best of classic and new Prince.

STARE is just him on autopilot.

THIS COULD B US is him on ego and lunacy.

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

if he sees sense and puts 2young2dare on the album it beats all these tracks.I do not care wheather it flows well as an album. i want hit after hit. Modern equivalent of diamonds and pearls or gold experience should be the aim.

Of the ones listed hardrocklover is best. i kind of like the this could be us remix but it is so reminiscent of the funknroll remix right down to guitar solo at end. Maybe he saw the positive reaction on that and tried to repeat it.

Stare was average. Glad it is not on new album as needs more work on track, just feels like a unfinished groove at the moment

2YTD is afun song but I preferred the rocking live version done on tour than the more studio/electronic version.

Hardrocklover wins for me, by far. Stare and This Could B Us are ok as well. I really hope he leaves The x's Face out of the album, though. Not too keen on that one..

HARDROCKLOVER by far!! It such a raw old school meets new school PRINCE.

STARE is just OK... It's an average track, nothing more.

This Could Be Us (Remix) Is OK as well, nothing special.

agreed. he should have put the 3EG version on Plectrum Electrum, along with

Screwdriver and the new version of Cause & Effect. then take off some of the

shitty songs that did end up on the album and hey presto, PLEC is great all of

a sudden smile

I think Hardrock is the best of the 3, but I'd probably listen to Stare more.

I like all three for diffrent reasons. I really can't compare them. I think it's unusaul today to have 3 really good Prince tracks released consecutively all around the same time. All three I wnt to listen to live at his next show.

All lot of people here like to blame Prince or a lable for failure to promote new music and blame that as the reason for apathy and the commercial failure of his newer music, but that has never been the entire case. I always comes back down to the actual product. This is one case where he has a really good shot at both a commercial and critical success. Any one of these tracks played live on a TV late night or awards show will get a strong positive reaction. It will sell some music and most importantly get new people to his shows.

The work speaks and promotes itself.

Quite difficult to choose between Hardrocklover and This could be us. In the end I guess I have to give it to This could be us. Why? Because I'm not the regular ballad type of guy. Quite the opposite: I couldn't stand any of Prince's ballads for decades now. Always the same generic patterns, always the impression "heard it better before". But this new arrangement and instrumentation provides a fresh and enjoyable outlook. It's exactly what I wanted him to do for a long time. F... go for it, Prince! Try something different, be open for technology and new sounds, if you want to make a strong artistic statement ever again!

Nevertheless it's not guaranteed that the new album won't end up being the usual hodgepodge which Prince is known for. A little bit experimental here, a little bit old-school there, too many slow songs etc.

Stare falls in the category of songs I don't want to hear from Prince anymore tbh. Quite old-school, nice but unremarkable, with horns and all. But once again: heard it all before, better!

why do the songs have to compete against one another? Why not just enjoy each individually for what they are? If I tell you HARDROCKLOVE is my fav, will you stop listening to Stare and This Could B Us forever? Probaby not. With much respect to you, I just don't get 'any' vs thread.

I liked Stare better than HARDROCKLOVER at first.

.

After multiple listens, I think HARDROCKLOVER is a bit better.

.

TCBU remix is really, really awful. It sounds like something I would have done with my Casio SK-1 keyboard in 1988.

.

I'm glad HARDROCKLOVER is on the new album. I'm terrified that TCBU Remix is on it.

H, then S, then TCBU. But even Hardrocklover is just good, Stare is okay, and TCBU is a bit of a mess.

Still Stare. Not crazy about any of these, but that's the one I dislike least. Haven't listened to any of these since they came out confused.

For all time I am with you, you are with me.

"Hardrocklover" is a solid Prince track. 8/10

"Stare" is OK. Good for the first 2 mins, then runs out of steam. 6/10

"This Could Be Us (Remix)" is lame. 4/10

HARDROCKLOV3R takes the cake! Thx for all of your replies. I think song would be a masterpiece if the lyrics were different but it's still sexy as ffffock wink

I suspect it was a leftover from AOA which is why it was given away. I like it

I am really struggling here. I don't like either one and as a result have no excitement for the new CD for the first time. It's sad indeed but I have already gotten over it. There is penty of other new things to listen to.
