Today you will become Prince's manager!

And you won't just receive a royal paycheck, but you will also have complete reign over his career. What would you do?

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Make available his legacy catalogue of music from 1978-1996 for Warner Bros. along with associated acts is for sale on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Pandors, TIDAL etc.

Create a website, that is organized to easily access current and older albums, photos, videos and concert footage by year and album. He has a legendary touring career and it would be good to have his best concerts and musical triumphs of his career curated by someone who can do it well: technologically. Susan Rogers for example, could archive those works in so many ways.

Become more transparent: Prince has low consumer equity because he has done business in bad faith so many times. Like withholding pre-orders for the Crystal Ball boxset until it reaches a certain number, then shipping people's orders. Some fans get their copies, some fans didn't. Some had to buy at Best Buy because their order took too long. Charging fans $77 after closing the Lotus Flower website, long after people's memberships expired. Implying last year, that 3RDEYEGIRL is playing a show in Toronto on Twitter, then saying the band was there only to test the sound of the venue. Be honest when doing business with the public.

Tour behind the new album. Prince always says he lives in the now and never looks back, but if you really believe in the new music, then you will play the music with the folks who had a hand in creating it and not leaning on the hits.

Lastly, give interviews that are honest and insightful instead of using bandmembers as puppets for your current agenda.

1) Create a legitimate & lasting online presence, including an official web site, Facebook page, Instagram, & Twitter account. Make available a rotating collection of his videos on an official YouTube channel.

2) Make it clear to Prince that these are to be updated regularly (define regularly) with coherent, traditional content that music fans come to expect (tour dates, news, information on recorded output, audio & video clips, etc.)

3) Work to ensure the immediate preservation of his vault(s) & begin a comprehensive review & cataloging of their content for gradual archival release. Selected tracks will be offered as web only exclusives to drive traffic to the web site, but others will be packaged around re-releases of official albums, retrospective releases, live sets, etc.

4) Announce a multi-city tour & announce the dates. cities & venues in advance, leaving only the onsale dates TBD.

5) Decide on a consistent & lasting means of record distribution, so his legacy in his remaining years as a recording artist doesn't see him bouncing around from label to label.

6) Conduct a series of honest, no-nonsense interviews, with legitimate journalists, not through social media puppets, lackey band members, third rate bloggers or friendly journalists. Invite fans to an online Q&A & have the stones to participate actively & honestly.

7) Rebuild burned bridges with fans.

1) Make a website much like previously been said. Except, the website will also have people able to STREAM music! But only about 30 songs a week or so. What will be great about that, is there will be the COMPLETE DISCOGRAPHY on there, listeners will just have to choose where they wanna start. And there will be Ad revenue that should completely go to Prince! And of course people will eventually order Prince CDs / LPs.
2) Get Prince a YouTube channel! But only for promotion to get in new fans! (It'll be the main hits like "When Doves Cry", etc.) and in the description of the videos shall be a link to the official website!
3) Everyone knows some albums like "The Gold Experience" is out of print, my plan will be to get more copies being made... Cds and Viny.. And might as well remaster them with bonus tracks..
4) Remasters. The remasters of his classic albums will be in one big boxset, and will also include unreleased material. There will be a poll on what fans want to hear for the first half, and for the rest, Prince will pick out himself.. (That way we'll get stuff we want in good quality and also material we haven't heard before)
5) Promotion. If Prince wants to release a new album. He's gonna have to have at least one interview. At least 3 TV appearances collectively and the timing will be right. And also TV ads, ads on internet and streaming websites. Oh and a tour. Not a show every 6 weeks. A tour... Unless of course age catches up with him and he ain't feeling right.
6) Communication with fans will be improved. It'll be put in more professional hands so let's just say Prince drops an album that he already announced, it will be stated by an offical to the public.
7) Streaming. The only streaming of the complete catalog will be on the official Prince website. If Prince does choose to have it on other streaming services, then it'll only be "The Hits/B - Sides" and maybe an exclusive release every now and then.
8) If promises are made in the future, then promises shall be kept. I'll continually remind Prince about if he's completely sure about what he's doing. And tell him that if he promises this certain thing to the fans, then it will come out.
No bullshit. No games.

I would make suggestions because we all know NO ONE has control over Prince's career but Prince.

1. The Back Catalogue: I would suggest releases similar to what U2 has done with their back catalogue. Standard remaster release, a second tier release with bonus material, and some 3rd tier deluxe release for the die-hard loyal fans that could be whatever: dvds of videos, concerts, reproductions of era posters, clothes. Queen has done similar promotions for their deluxe additions.

2. New Music: maybe 1-3 releases a year. One album being a traditional release, the other one or two more experimental music.

3. Concerts - I would mix in some standard touring into the Hit n' Run pattern of shows. Again maybe small residencies like U2's last tour. I know Prince has done that before. I have not been to a Prince show in a decade but maybe have a section on the floor for die-hard fans that have cheaper ticket price.

4. Web Page - Prince could have his own webpage again. Other than selling new music and old music maybe offer special access for bonus material, demos, alternative versions of songs, outake, live music. This forum could where, for example, there are multiple versions of some Prince song available.; Come versions 1-5, something like that. Prince has so much music just sitting around he could generate some revenue from it. over course have videos, live footage, etc.

5. Other - Joni Mitchell has done her own musical complilations where the old songs are curated in a way that it tels a story, or reflects a theme, and I think Prince's music could be released in that way too. maybe do orchestral versions of some songs/albums.

6. Film / Musicals - Prince could do Purple Rain the musical. If we can have Mama Mia we can have Purple Rain. Maybe Prince could do more movies, or movie scores.

7. Critical Analysis - Several books have been done analyzing the music and lyrics of Stephen Sondheim, some by Stephen himself. I think Prince's music could be treated in such a way with a lot of respect and care so it can be studied and enjoyed fans and academics alike.

oh and I'll add that I wouldn't let him release a WHOLE ALBUM exclusively on a streaming service that's a failure financial-wise...

I had a revelation. The Vault is one big toilet with the throne in the middle, surrounded of endless shelves of master tapes.

Oh gosh, I sure hope he doesn't use said tapes to clean himself.

I'd get him the money he wants on ONE streaming service for his back catalogue thats available....and i'd make a 20 year deal. Lets assume I make a deal w applemusic

That one streamiing service would in effect act as label, and provide a marketing team devoted to only Prince projects - so that the visual, messaging and launch is coordinated properly through all social media channels, print, tv ...etc

- streaming serivce gets to offer new releases and offers them for immediate download.

- i'd also arrange 'listening parties' with the band in apple stores in some secondary markets pre-launch and one BIG launch of the album with Prince & band in LA

- i'd treat an album launch the way steve jobs would launch new apple products

additionally - i'd negotiate upfront payments to Prince, on a per project basis, and shoot additional video content of the album being made, rehearsals and other footage related to the projects that can be added for the delux multi-media versions

--- I'd book Prince for the festival circuit where he could go hog wild and be as experimental as he wants, and I'dmake sure that he can record as much as he wants as long as he gives each projecy 30-60days of breathing room before the next one is put forward.

Once he has 3 new projects - I'd book a 60 city world tour with each 20 city leg of the tour focusing on a different project.

Then Prince gets two months off December and January smile Then back into the studio he goes smile

I'd START with having him stuffed and put on a display in his own museum in New York.

Needless to say, there'll be great reviews from the columnists.

I'd then create a 3rdEyeGirl tribute band, send them to Europe with a lookalike and then reform The Revolution putting Wendy and Lisa in charge of a set of lookalikes and sending them off to tour Finland.

THEN

I'd fire all the staff at Paisley Park and have it refitted as a mall/shopping centre selling Prince perfumes, thongs, bras and, yes, ARCHIVE UNRELEASED VAULT MATERIAL.

I'd form a travel company to bring well-heeled Prince twunts from all around the world to come and buy PHYSICAL access the archive material. That is: they come and stay in a room in PP for $$$ during which time they get to hear some stuff on a pay-per-play basis until they're penniless after which they're thrown out on the street.

In other words, I'm not planning any major policy changes here.
