Bearing in mind they spent a year and a half talking about Plectrum Electrum before it came out, if something very solid isn't announced in the next week I'd forget it.

Different..He had the deal w/Kobalt for that then WB came back into picture

.

Gotta love the Org: Prince signs a deal with Kobalt, nothing happens for SIX MONTHS (ghee, I wonder why? Lemme guess: they refused to sink time and money in some third-rate rubbish they knew he wasn't going to promote -- hence Prince trying to peddle the album to other parties by taking an out of the blue promo trip to the UK) and then he signs a deal with WBR (who did NOT agree to release the 3EG record) and poof, WBR is the cause PlecElec didn't get released in late 2013.

The fact that you spend so much time and energy on someone you despise so much says a lot more about you than it says about Prince or his music. But hey, if it makes you happy...

I wonder now if Hannah isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. She's really throwing around a load of words that don't belong together. Weird, hit after hit, experimental, for the hardcore fans - maybe P up to lovesexy coulda offered all of that but now? Really? I would love to be proved wrong but whilst I'm pleased there's hypothetically a new album ready I fear it won't pull up any trees. That aside, if he releases one, maybe he'll release two or three albums at once. 2021 is going to be big.

Your story can't be true, Bart's nagativeity towards Prince predates any web sites and back to the day when the alt.music.prince usenent newsgroup was the place to talk about Prince.

Josh is involved again, so I kind of think this is a good thing.

I wonder when it will officially be released. I mean, we're well into summer now, and about to start the dog days of summer.

Positive signs:

* Josh is co-producing

* The album is completed and was already played publically

* Looks like Prince is back to frequent releases

Worries:

* it's going to suck

* Prince is going appear in public with another 18 year old girl whose career will be affected negatively

* Larry Graham might publically surface again with his big ass moustache

Your thoughts?

From the housequake FB page: NEW ALBUM! 'The Hit & Run' coming 'soon'...

BBC 6music radio had an exclusive interview with 3rdEyeGirl this morning (or seemingly just Hannah) in which they revealed a new album has been completed by Prince & Josh entitled 'The Hit & Run'. Hardrocklover is from that album and the album was played in full at the recent Obama event apparently. More details to follow. Check out the BBC iPlayer (if UK resident) to hear the interview.

How's about a Prince impersonator instead of MJ? lol

I don't need a Prince live album.. they usually suck...

I need a GOOD live Prince album. That or a studio album that captures the rawness and sound of Prince's live playing. Think about the difference between the SNL version of "Fury" and what wound up on 3121. I'm not sure why he can't capture that organic, natural and raw quality that he demonstrates live and especially in his aftershows.

.

For that matter, I've never understood why he can't bring the raw organic quality of his aftershows into his regular sets when he's on tour. Other bands change their set list every night. When you see Prince on tour for one date, there's no reason to see another in a different town because you always get The Same Show.

Super funky....and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic Purple Rain Prince sound."

That sounds promising. I am Sooooooo tired of "the hits" and the same set lists.

I want to see prince and his music get as as much exposure as the next prince fan does, but it doesnt look like thats going to happen while he is still alive!Im just glad hes still fit and healthy and still releasing music with the odd concert thrown in.

You're right. He's gone out of his way quite often to make sure the people who might be interested in his stuff have to jump through hoops to get to it. Most people don;t have the time or the energy.

.

The Musicolgy period was the last time he truly seemed totally accessible and that seemed to work out pretty well for him. Wish he'd go back to that model once in a while.

.

Having said that, I think part of Prince's longevity, aside from his obvious talent and his already cemented legacy, is that through playing these games and by being coy, he's manged to maintain his mystique, which has ALWAYS been central to his schtick, and, in some ways, people's interest in him. He STILL turns heads and gets standing ovations everywhere he shows up. Everyone knows who he is and everywhere he goes he's always the center of attention.

.

In some ways, it's been smart the way he's played it and in others, not so much and it's often been an annoying pain in the ass. The older I get, the less time I have for his bullshit and I am as hardcore as it gets. I have an entire SHELF dedicated to his stuff. Everyone else is alphabetized. It seems a lot of people feel the same way that I do though. He's like the person that just won't dive into the pool when everyone else is saying "jump in! The water's fine" and is already swimming, but largely, I think his approach has served him well. He's 58 and still rich and still famous.

.

I read a critic recently who desribed him as "The World's Most Famous and Popular Underground Artist" and that rung a bell for me. It seemed a rather apt description. I could do with a little more "Musicology", Tonight show, "Mel Gibson, what's shakin, baby!" and a little less "LotusFlower.com" though.

Great news. Particularly happy it's intended for hardcore fans.

Hardrocklover is one of his most satisfying songs in years.

I dont care about anything else on this album aside from 1000's Hugs and Kisses. If Prince is not on vocals for this it will be a freakin tragedy.

I'm just looking forward to the new album. Don't need videos, don't need remasters. I never carry any of the baggage. It might be average, it might be great. As long as it new. I have the history anytime I want it. Bring me fresh jelly.

Of course it's for the hardcore fans, who else is buying his albums any more?!

I'm looking forward to it a lot. I love hardrocklover and while I'm not sold on the idea of rehashing a song from the last album I'll reserve judgement until I've heard it. Has he really not got other new songs to go in its place?

Interested to hear a 1,000 hugs and kisses although I have a strange fear that Hannah will sing lead on it. But it can always be replaced with the prince boot if it turns out to be the case. Please no!

The whole Hit and Run concept suggests to me that this new album could be released anytime. An hour from now, a week, a month, whenever. There may be very little warning, if any. Unfortunately, that also suggests that this album might be digital only. At least initially. I hope I'm wrong about that last part because I'm fairly new to Prince's music and this would be the first newly released album of his I would buy. And I'd much prefer to go into a shop and buy a physical copy on CD. I'm probably over thinking it (first time for everything razz) but I'd be a little disappointed if this turns out to be true.

.

I agree. I think the title implies a soon-to-be release with little notice or fanfare. Maybe download only for now and hard copies later after a distribution deal? No matter what, I'm super excited. He and Josh have good chemistry.

It's not news. Believe me. Prince's track record speaks for itself. In that sense, he's entirely predictable. WHEN you have the new CD in your hands, THEN you have the new CD in your hands.

Anywho, the mainstream press is picking this up VERY quickly.

Prince's new album to feature 'so many hits'

Prince's new album features ''so many hits''.

The 57-year-old musician has completed his 38th studio LP, which will be titled 'The Hit & Run Album' in reference to his latest tour, and his backing band 3RDEYEGIRL have teased it sounds ''phenomenal''.

They said: ''It's phenomenal; there are so many hits on this album. It's super experimental.''

The 'Little Red Corvette' hitmaker released his last albums 'Art Official Age' and 'PLECTRUMELECTRUM' last September and trailed his upcoming collection by premiering new single 'Hardrocklover' online earlier this month.

And speaking about what fans can expect from the iconic musician, 3RDEYEGIRL went on to say it will please lovers of his classic albums because it features ''hit after hit''.

Speaking to radio station BBC 6 Music, the trio said: ''Super hardcore Prince fans that know every song he's ever recorded - we refer to them as 'The Purple Collective' or 'The Purple Army' - this album is absolutely for them, because it's super funky.

''It's weird, there's a lot of experimental sound. It's just hit after hit and definitely caters to those fans who just love to hear what Prince has to say, rather than wanting to always hear that classic 'Purple Rain' Prince sound.''

Eye love the quotes that Hannah uses! It proves that prince knows his true, loyal fans..

Don't think he needs a distribution deal after re-signing with Warner last year.

You know what I mean, as in atop ten billboard sales single etc. I aint that bothered, im a fan and will buy album/singles like most on here

good, its their job to rep their set ..If i had a sales person on my team or employee who didnt evangelize the product nor beleive in it i would show them the door

They can rep as much as they want--but you don't see other artists of comparable stature (but equally limited potential to experience an actual "hit" at this time) or their representatives referring to their new product, no matter how good it might be, as containing "hits" (or if you do, you just shake your head sadly). They're promoted in ways that make sense--heck, call 'em "new classics" (if you think they are comparable to the old ones in quality), or "damn good tunes" or "nice ones"--but they aren't gonna be "hits"--and no, a couple of hours or even days near the top of a web retailer's sales list doesn't count.

.

Of course, I objected when I used to buy an album with a sticker on it that said "containing the hits" followed by the titles of the hit, the failed single, and the two or three others they never actually ever would get around to releasing as singles at all. So maybe I'm just a stickler for accuracy.
