And the album leaked already which is WHY i have said streaming a full record is DUMB, snippets are one thing, or a Youtube Album player where you do 30 second spots and add tracks as you go, good idea, but streaming an album before, and then releasing the cd, dont get the idea.

I think they are hoping for positive word of mouth. Though the NY Times already called it crap and said Josh wasn't up to the task.

Actually searching the reviews they have so far been the best for a Prince album in ages, AOA got very mixed ones as do d most of the rest, the worst I am seeing is the NY daily News at 3 stars

I'm not going to read them all, but typicaly with mainstream published reviews, you have to read between the lines:

From NY Times:

All in all, the songs on “HitNRun” add up to an album typical of Prince’s last decade: skillful and scattershot.

More important than Prince’s latest method of distribution is that he’s willing to make music with others. This has been a prime year for audacious R&B songwriters like D’Angelo, the Weeknd, Miguel and FKA twigs, who all must know how much they owe Prince. Now that he seems determined to revitalize his music by collaborating, he could probably find plenty of qualified volunteers.

I think it's excellent. Quite un-Princey at times.

Like A Mack is awesome.

Loving it.

Totally agree. By far not his baddest album. That's 'rave un2' for me. Okay Welton did a bad job on 'like a mack' and 'this could b us'. But that doesn't make it a less interesting Prince album for me and I really, really like:

Million $ show
Shut this down
Aint about 2 stop
1000 Xs & Os
The Xs face
June
A feeling of self-worth will caress U,
The size of the whole wide world will decrease,
The love of God's creation will undress U,
And time spent alone my friend, will cease.
