A "friends" album - would you like to see one?

Certain songs like "Elixer", "Givin em What they Love", "Paradigm" are all great IMHO.

I wonder, if Prince recorded other such songs and managed to get other artists such as Stevie Wonder, Judith Hill, Andy Allo, etc. maybe someone like Justin Timberlake, Beyonce involved it could have the potential of being a great seller.

Any thoughts?

Clive Davis did that to great effect with Carlos Santana ...one of my clients was intimately involved and won a Grammy smile

Its a great idea, but it needs to be Super Star Collaborations - I'd like to see Cyndi Lauper - Florence Welch - Adele - Patti Labelle - Leela James - Annie Lennox - Aerosmith - Eric Clapton - Robert Plant - D'Angelo - Eminem - Kendrick Lamar - Rolling Stones

I think it would be fun to possibly have all these artists collaborate/contribute on all the songs for Purple Rain or something like that. Do a complete re-release of Purple Rain with each artists contributing their fave song from the album.

But hard to imagine Prince saying yes to that...

An album with guest vocalists could be great. I don't care about sales but i think it'd allow P to work again with some old timers (Patti, Chaka, Sheena, etc.) and others he's never recorded anything with.

However I doubt it'll happen, but yeah it'd be a great idea.

If he could take a back seat when needed it might be cool. The influence of the Santana album on Rave didn't turn out too well since it was a blink and miss them situation for most of the guest artists.

Speaking of working with other artists, I'm still waiting for that Anita Baker album that was spoke of briefly as a maybe idea. I'd go for another Chaka collab too.

It has the potential to be really good depending on who the "friends" are. No one comes to mind right, but I'd like to hear him collaborate with some people that you might not expect.

OOOOH nice picks in DaftPunk and Thundercat!

You know I'd love a Francois K, or Ibadan kind of Jerome Syndeham/Dennis Ferrer thing to happen but who am I kidding lololol
