Loose! On vinyl

I got a vinyl copy of the Come album today and noticed that the version of Loose! on it sounds different than the CD version. Am I tripping or are they different?

Was Come released on Vinyl? I thought it was only CD and Cassette. And Her Majesty's Stationary Office.

It was pressed on double vinyl as a promo. Black sleeve with a sticker of the cover. The last side is filled out with remixes. I never noticed about Loose! I'll give it a spin.

Was pressed in some European countries like Germany, I own COME on vinyl, not the promo version.

I own the Come album on LP vinyl as well - german and not a promo..

My photobucket has not been working, it keeps write "Look who's popular" instead of showing the pic.. confused confused

Therefor I have no picture to show...

But: I have never noticed any difference in the songs... ??

Given how the same master was used for both, the vinyl and the CD, I'd be very shocked if there were any differences.

There was a difference between GB on CD and LP and GB on cassette so it's not impossible that 2 masters were created.

However, I'd find it extremely surprising that an alternate mix of Loose! would have gone unnoticed all those years, which is why I'd like the OP to be more specific about the alleged differences nod

What are the differences on GB? I have it on both CD and vinyl...I think I might have the cassette as well....

There's a fade at the end of JIR on the cassette version that appears nowhere else. You'd actually be praised as a hero in the community if u were able to rip your cassette version of JIR to mp3 or Flac, as there is currently no digital rip of this version in circulation nod

^ I believe I have the Graffiti Bridge cassette tape, and an old Tandberg cassette player.

I could make a copy in mp3 320 kbps. Or Wav.

Maybe with some tape hiss on though.

Not tonight though, maybe tomorrow.. smile

Joy In Repetition (4:58) sounds the same* on my original cassette tape, german Gema Biem 7599-27493-4.

* Edit: correction in my next post, below..

However, on my Turkish tape from Istanbul - bought on my hollyday in Turkey in 1991, the JIR song is (4:54) = indeed 3-4 seconds shorter at the end, buy this could be because of bad editing at the factory? I am thinking it could be because also: there's a short break of silence between "We Can Funk" & "Joy In Repetition".

Please note (Databank): the first 5 seconds of the song sounds a bit "thin", but this is both on the german and the turkish version... this isn't about the tape or my tape recorder, that's just how the song is, but I was a little surprised and I actually recorded the song (german) twice to be sure - that it wasn't me making this sound a bit "thin".... (I can't remember if the cd version is like that as well?).

Sorry Databank.. and others - I'm danish.. so my language (english) could be a lot better.. smile

Joy In Repetition: mystery solved wow the song is actually a bit longer on tape... eek

Cassette tape version German : 4:58 (means this version is aprox 3 seconds longer than the cd version!)

Cassette tape version Turkish : 4:54 (this is = the cd version)

Yeah this is how it was supposed to be, the fade allowing an end of side that wasn't barbaric, and it's actually crazy that this fade isn't on the LP since there's an end of side also, possiblky it was a mistake at WB or Prince totally forgot to tell them to use the cassette master on the LP too. You are now a national hero, man biggrin biggrin biggrin

I wonder if this could be a pirate copy made from the CD, it's not unthinkable that Turkey had pirate copies at that time, Eastern Europe had a lot and even I think Italy.

Is there any other artist still around that has people talking about the 3 second difference between songs on cassette vs CD?

I'm not making fun, I'm just saying it's interesting that we're talking about those 3 seconds 25 years after it was released!

I have come on vinyl as a single LP & a Promo 2xLP with the extra remixes. Never noticed a difference with Loose, though.

The GB difference can be heard on US LPs & cassettes.

There is also a difference in Still Waiting on the Prince LP: 4:25 on vinyl, 4:16 on CD.

wink

I always disliked that random cutoff on the CD version, after hearing the cassette first and enjoying it in that way only for several years.

The GB cassette was the same everywhere (save maybe for Turkish pirate copies) but AFAIK no version of the LP contain the cassette edit of JIR, the LP is similar to the CD.
