Soul Psychodelicide 59 minute version

I heard version for the first time today and I have two words: Ice Cream!!! I heard elements of The Work Pt. 1. Anyone else hear any parts of other songs? Man it's crazy that he had the turn around for that song back in 1986!

I've got a copy of the year long version but I've only heard the first few months as I got destracted by a girl that walked in and kept rabbiting on to me, telling me to love her over and over again. Pissed me right off as I was just getting into the groove.

On the version I have,it starts off with Kim Basinger moaning and groaning...then she mentions something about "the natural (?) pump of sheer delight" then starts moaning again,lol... It's unintentionally funny!

This long version is part of a live rehearsal, right? Same one as when they are going over "The Sex of It"?

It is a live rehearsal but the bootleg I have (Moonraker's Soul Psychodelicide) does not include The Sex Of It.

01. Life Can Be So Nice 0:46

02. Soul Psychedelicide 59:33

03. Around The World In A Day 2:03

04. Christopher Tracy's Parade 3:03

05. New Position 2:11

06. I Wonder U 3:01

07. Raspberry Beret 2:44

08. Delirious 1:05

09. Controversy 2:32

10. Mutiny 2:17

Of course it's possible that this bootleg only includes a portion of this rehearsal and The Sex Of It was simply not included here.

I had the Moonraker release (still got it somewhere) and would listen to it and U Gotta Shake Something with headphones and the lights off all the time when I was younger. I know a lot of people rag on these kind of Revolution rehearsal jams for showing their limitations or whatever, but I could listen to them all day long. Same goes for The Flesh, Billy's Sunglasses, Noon Rendezvous rehearsal/live etc, etc - Just where they get in a groove and it seems to envelop you in a mood or emotion and it keeps you there. The War is a similar kind of thing for me stoned

In the shorter version, 11 to 15 minutes, someone sings part of the chorus to Graffiti Bridge, as far as other songs contained in this song.

I'm talking about the studio version of Soul Psychedelicide.

I just looked at my collection and I apparently have like 4-5 studio versions of this song and I've just never listened to them. Shit. My collection is just too big.

I really wish I had access to Revolution rehearsals when I was younger. As a muscian they have actually been really valuable to me. They way the recordings humanize the Revolution's writing and rehearsal process alone was kind of a revelation. Their band practice and the way the tell each other to do stuff sounds just like my band practice. Super cool. Also, the Rev jamming is really one of my favorite things.

I don't know the answer to your question, but, I don't no how it could be better quality. The Moonraker release sounds about as good as it possibly could. If you acquire that one, you won't be disappointed! wink

Wow! I have lots of FILES that I haven't listened to and/or forgot about. But, to forget about a CD... just kidding! wink

Isn't it awesome when you get excited about finding and hearing something only to discover you already have it? It's happened to me a few times lately. A couple weeks ago I was going crazy looking for the First Ave 83 show in my AUDIO collection. I totally forgot, until BigChick reminded me, about the excellent Makings Of The Rain DVD boot. He suggested I seek it out, I walked over to the shelf, and there it was!! Sweeeeet!! cool

Yes there is a much better quality version of the entire rehearsal on Sabotage's A Parade Around the World Paris 86. It's has the Paris show, excerpts from other 86 shows ,and then this rehearsal in pristine condition with Soul Psychodelicide at end of the rehearsal, not in the second slot.

The proper order is
1. Around the World in a Day
2. Christopher Tracy's Parade
3. New Position
4. I Wonder U
5. Raspberry Beret
6. Delirious
7. Controversy
8. Mutiny
9. Life Can Be So Nice
10. Soul Psychodelicide

Is it better quality in that it sounds better, or, is it just better because it's more complete? And, has it been confirmed which order is the correct version?

I'll have to dig that one off the hard drive and compare. As far as the sound quality, Moonraker sounds perfect. I don't know how Sabotage could improve the already excellent fidelity, but, I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up!! wink

No I'm talking about the single 59 minute track where whenever the drums splash Prince yells "Ice Cream!" There is no George Clinton in this version.

I have both versions and sonically the Sabotage collection is a lot clearer With a wider sound. I thought the Moonraker version was great until I heard this one. Also, I'm fairly sure this is the correct running order. It sure flows together much better this way.
