bootleg opinions

As always:

NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. These rules are strictly enforced!

I'm hoping some of you with expert bootleg knowledge can save me some time scouring my hard drives and share some opinions on which bootlegs contain the best version of the following:

8/3/83 First Avenue

6/9/94 (am) Glam Slam Miami

6/10/94 (am) Glam Slam Miami

I'm fairly certain I have these in excellent quality, but as I go through my hard drives I'm not finding what I'm looking for.

Any opinions as to the best release of these shows will help me tremendously in finding them, so, thanks to anybody willing to take the time.

I have an itch that can only be scratched by cranking that Glam Slam Miami version of Hide The Bone!! headbang Need to hear that Maybe Your Baby cover again, too! music

For the first one, I can recommend a set called Purple Rush Volume 5, which haslush and clean versions of the show.

.

Plus the DVD called "Making of Rain - August 3rd 1983" which included the video of the night and the quality is supreme, and nothing is left out, from the lines "Wakeup Wendy" and the uncut screams during Electric Intercourse. I nearly lost my grip here.

.

Mods Delete this post if I have said too much.

.

1994 shows, I just have a couple of discs, called Glam Slam live 94 Prince and the New Power Generation. Got them off a kind friend's megadrive. But they are on separate discs and you need two discs, I have the audio and video as well.

.

Good luck the 1983 one is totally worth the search, the versions of Electric Intercourse and A case of you are to die for.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Thank you Adorecream!!

I know I have the Purple Rush set and probably have the 94 discs too. You've definitely saved me some time. I haven't listened to that 83 show in years, but iirc, I totally agree with you on Electric Intercourse. Can't wait to dig it off the hard drive and give it another spin.

Somewhere I have a couple VHS tapes that have the 94 shows that were ripped from the satellite hookup between clubs but I haven't watched those tapes in ages and I'm not sure if I ever got DVD versions or not. All I know is I at least have to find the audio in my archives so I can jam on that Hide The Bone!!

Also, I'm pretty sure you didn't break any rules helping me out. Thank you so much for taking the time and saving me from wasting a bunch of my time... I could probably find them in my hard drive quicker if I didn't keep getting distracted coming across other cool stuff I haven't listened to in a while, it's slowing down my mission... wink First world problems? lol

I've got the Glam Slam East 94 shows on a 4daFunk release. Excellent quality for an audience recording.

.

You mentioned some highlights and I also love Shoop were he raps bits from Sexy MF, Gett Off and Acknowledge Me.

This is part of what's throwing me off as I was going through my hard drive backups. I've found several boots of the Glam Slam Miami stuff as AUD recordings, but, I clearly remember having those shows as SBD and even remember that the multi-generational VHS dubs I had were SBD. So, when I keep coming across boots with the right dates, venue & track listings but inferior audio than that which I remember I decided to come here to check my hard drive and my memory against the knowledge of the fanbase to cut to the facts, find the right folder with the releases I think I remember and get my funk on. Hopefully in the next couple of days I'll get a chance to look again with a clearer idea of what I'm looking for... wink

Yeah, those shows circulated as audience recording first. Remember that "Glam Slam" North, South and West' box set they came out with in the fall of 94. There's been a few releases of the shows with the soundboard audio taken from the video but they were all pretty disappointing because the sound quality on those wasn't necessarily great. Probably because they took the audio from high generation tapes.
