Cover of Little Red Corvette

I recently found a cover version of Little Red Corvette with no artist information which I actually prefer to the original version.

I have since discovered that this version is performed by the Tune Robbers who released a Best of Prince CD in 2009 which was released Digitally in 2010.

Tracklist is as follows:

01
03:36
02
04:52

03
03:30

04
03:58

05
03:20

06
05:03

07
03:53

08
03:40

09
02:23

10
03:24

11
02:45

12
06:12

13
03:59

14
05:57
03:18

Does anybody know anything more about the Tune Robbers?

You prefer that to the original? Are you tripping? It's not even a different take on it, it's literally a barely passable vocalist singing over a Casio/midi backing track of Little Red Corvette.

Well that's the version I have on my phone. I like that it stays faithful to the original but has a bit more energy. It has the same sort of vibe as the Jerry and the Champions song Dance (Everybody on the Floor) which was my second favourite song of 2012.

I'm not mental keen on some of the very popular Prince tracks like Cream and Purple Rain cos they have been so overplayed,

'I like that it stays faithful to the original but has a bit more energy'. Each to their own obviously but... seriously? When's the last time you heard the original? In that cover he SPEAKS the 'you must be a limousine' line for God's sake!

EDIT: I just listened to it again and it's just fucking terrible. I feel like you can't have heard the original in the past 10 years if you prefer this to Prince's pop masterpiece:

There was an old episode of Knight Rider on TV the other day and in one scene they used a cover version of Little Red Corvette.

This site is just flat weird. LRC is one of the best pop records ever. Lyrics, vocal delivery, music.... I mean it's just absurd for you to make the claim you just did
Dance... Let me see you dance

I reckon OP is either in the band or related to them and is just trying to plug this shit because there is just absolutely no fucking way on this earth that anyone would genuinely rather listen to that cheap sounding half-assed cover over one of the finest pop records of all time. It sounds like it was made on cheap Casio keyboard for gods sake! I feel like I'm loosing my mind because I literally cannot fathom how you can prefer it over the original!! whofarted

Mods lock this thread because the OP is clearly taking the piss. If you feel he/she is being genuine and really prefers the Tune Robbers to Prince, ban them.

I won't state the obvious since it's been stated 20 times already lol

But what's for sure is that Prince's version of "Little Red Corvette" is a masterpiece. Everything from that slow synth buildup into the rock chorus, those sexy whispery vocals, the mysterious video, it's perfection. Girl you got an ass like I've never SEEEEEN. And the 12" remix is even better

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

Nice debate going on.

Ok maybe I'm just tired of the song.

I replaced it today with Wipe Out by the Surfaris.

I have 88 Prince songs on my phone, the following are 12 contoversial omissions:

How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?

Little Red Corvette

Purple Rain

Sometimes it Snows in April

If I Was your Girlfriend

Batdance (I like the Tune Robbers version of this one too)

Thieves in the Temple

Cream

Diamonds and Pearls

The Most Beautiful Girl in the World

Black Sweat

Guitar

One of the worst covers I've heard in my lifetime. Your ears are broken and no amount of steering this off topic can detract from that.

On a related note - I only realised just how good Little Red Corvette is the other week. I've always liked it, but it's never been one of my favourites, then, out of nowhere, it just hit me square in the face. Here is a pictoral demonstration of what happened: brick (The brick is Little Red Corvette).
