It's the first Prince song where you can really muse about a warning for the diabetics. Heaps of sugar drowned in syrups of various kinds and half a candy store -- stuffed into a blender... and served.

This is why the Arms of Orion sucks.

You know a song sucks when Aerogram attacks it. That's not meant as a diss on the net; it's just a reflection of your general positivity. Arms of Orion is a very competent, slick, 1980's cheesedick ballad. It's well done, but I think it's hands down the worst, weakest, most pedestrian song released by Prince in the entire decade. Fuck that song. Sea of Tranquility? Yeah, I'll give that song a moon alright. A big pale white shining moon.

I personally love those kind of songs but I get what you're saying

Oh and the verses sound lovely, but the chorus is kinda ropey. I can't even remember the middle 8 (does it have one?), and after that, the song meanders and goes nowhere.

The track "Diamonds and "Pearls" was second attempt done right. The breakdown on that is lovely for example, even if the verses to me are the weakest part. Love the real drums on that one.

Mj didn't tour because a tour would have been overkill that early! Mj was already EVERYWHERE in 83. By the time he did the "Victory tour" at his Mother Katherine's request(he didn't want to do it, because Mj was sick of supporting his brothers,then the pepsi promotional video commercial for that tour was the cause of his scalp being burnt). He was in the midst of a backlash, people were trading in their "Victory tour" tickets for "Purple Rain tour" tickets.

It's interesting to note that Thriller sold all those copies just based off only three music videos.Imagine how many more copies would have been sold if he had videos for all seven singles! You bring up a good point,though.If Michael had done a solo tour for Thriller,it would have been the most successful tour ever! His popularity in 1983 and early '84 was unlike anything else the world had ever seen.

one of the very few Prince songs that he's actually singing in his normal voice...no high pitch, no screaming..just nice and normal pop song about love and what's wrong with that?!

The vocals, especially towards the end are beautiful , as is that lil synth breakdown. An underrated classic, imo...

listening to it now...still liking the song and it's putting a smile on face and taking me back to a time in my life where i was stress free and the only worries i had was what to do on the weekend! Long live the Summer of 1989!
