"Martikas Kitchen"

I can't believe I never knew about this song!

I literally only came across it by chance because it was featured in Peter Kays new show 'Car Share'.

Like, I was watching it and I thought "That sounds Prince as fuck", searched it up and what do you know.

It's a great song. music

I wonder if there is a version of the song with Prince on vocals? I would love that haha. What do you guys think of this song?

There certainly is an unreleased version with Prince on vocal but it has been in the hands of fans for years now. It isn't too hard to find wink

Tbh I still find him funny but a lot of people say he's gotten a bit big headed and let the fame go to his head.

My boyfriends dad used to know him. He based the character of 'Ray Von' from Pheonix Nights on my bf's dad lmfao

I liked all the songs he did for Martika. "Love... Thy Will Be Done" is great. He did some good straightforward pop stuff during this era. I also like his version of "Get Blue," which I wish he had released himself.

Ight! I work in Bolton so have actually had fire training from the so called dog botherer! Used to love Phoenix Nights but then he seemed to repeat himself a bit. Some headlines in Bolton Evening News are funnier and they're not supposed to be. Good to see Stallone ont town hall steps like!

Yeah, he sometimes does that. A lot of his jokes can get samey, he repeated one in his new show which I thought was a bit cheap. I will give the lad credit though, he's done his fair share of shite jobs and he's never strayed far from home and stuck to his roots where as most celebs piss off down south somewhere.

If I ever meet him I want to ask him about the time he saw Prince lmao, he wrote in his book that he saw P.

I love most of the 1989 - 1991 outtakes. Shame they were never included on his own albums

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

Probably haha. He used to DJ around Bolton in the early 90s, he rates being called Ray Von though lmao. Apparently Peter just saw him walking past and was like "Oi Martin I've got a character based off you".

He still has a mullet and is well into his prog rock.

Absolutely! That definitely would have been a true R&B hit

Meh.
I'd go with "Spirit", which is a fine craft considering Martika poor vocal abilities and dull timbre.
I prefer the record version over P's one.

Of course "Love Thy Wil Be Done" is above both, especially with P on vocals.
