Montreux 2009 might be his best ever concert.

I think it is his best because he hits everything perfectly. He changes up the regular songs and plays some surprises. When I lay My Hands On U is just sick.

Some will complain that there are too many ballads. Funk obsessed fucks. lol.

Elixir, how great is that? We just need the shit on video Princebitch.

wasn't that on video? In DVD quality? Maybe I'm getting shows mixed up, but there were two Montreux nights on DVD.

I love the Montreux 2009 concert and, yes, it is on video.

Yeah that's just show #1. Show #2 from that night is him just wailing on guitar, much better! I don't know if it's his best show ever but it's a good representation of his guitar skills. The North Sea shows were arguably better, especially night two. And yes that's on video somewhere...

These are great shows. But I can't rank them above the 1984 birthday show.

I don't want to hear him just fucking wailing on guitar. I want him to do full songs, with vibrant melodies. It makes me really miss Renato. You fams led him away from me.

Mean fams.

So glad I was at both shows! Great memories! I was at all three North Sea Jazz NL shows too. Those were great too, but quality-wise I think Montreux was better (for musicianship). Rotterdam was awesome too, but more party-wise...

All shows are `on video`.

But this show is available in a video format on DVD.

To us mere mortals.

Or at least it was available.

Go find out!

I completely agree. As I have said before on other posts, if you need something to show a non-Prince to demonstrate the versatility, diversity and sheer skill, these shows probably can't be beat. He's on point and the band is tight as hell. Plus it's a brilliant example of his guitar prowess. He may not be the best guitar guy around but what he does is magical at times.

Wasn't that the Montreux where he was changing his mind about recording before the event?

He wanted analog film or so, with so many cameras, with sets around the band, etc.

.

No introduction to the crowd about the very similar setlists. No communication. No excuse. Nothing.

Some changes to the setlist due to crowd `interaction`.

So certain things weren't so great.

No: biggrin

the 2009 Montreux is "ok" imo - and not more than that.

I have just watched the 2 dvd's and some of it are actually making me wanna go to sleep. zzz

There are so many concerts, better.

I have seen Prince in concert total of 19 times since 1987, and most of the shows were better:

just to mention 3:

Lovesexy 88,
Sott 87,
Gold (Ultimate Live Experience) 95.

On video Parade is much much better as well.

So.... my answer to the headline is a big "NO" - not imho.

Sorry to you who loves this 2x show so much, I wish I was feeling the same.. boxed

I think just audio. But I own ZERO Prince live videos. None. Thousands of audio bootleg tracks. No videos.

A little of both. But mostly laziness. I just collected a shit-ton of audio over the past 16 years and never bothered with video.

Maybe, but it's about the same concept as he uses these days... 2 shows per night, basically same setlists with slight differences...

I don't see why an excuse would be at place? It's the fan's choice to go to both shows, no promises were made about different setlists... people just had great expectations..

NSJ met more expectations I guess, those three nights were unique in their differences..

As if ordinary people would travel to CH and pay these franks to see two similar shows.

At least some explanation, some human interaction of that sort.

But there was no talking. P kept his distance w.r.t. this aspect of the deal.

.

.

NSJ was different.

No video hoopla.

No Swisss surcharge.

Close to home, drawing attention away from the rest of the NSJ festival.

Those shows were more interesting in a few ways.

So sorry to ask a silly question but does anybody know why this great concert hasn't been released?Back in early 2013 there were sources saying that Prince was going to release the 2009 concerts on Dvd.I guess that was speculation!

The concerts were released.

Just not by mr Prince as contractual issues were cited by him when he chose to let the world know.

This contrasts quite a bit with all the hoopla before Montreux 2009 and makes mr Prince look kinda silly.

Perhaps for P but it was his dealings. He did not earn money from this DVD.

The fans still got the materials.

That was what I meant. He signed a CONtract but later sais that things didn't work out, or similar.

(i.e.: he did not read the CONtract)

So no P release.

No release yet by the MJ organisation.

But a leak nevertheless.
