Prince North Sea Jazz Festival 2011

Hey folks,
About two or three years ago I contacted the organizers of the North Sea Jazz Festival.Prince headlined and played three shows there in 2011.I emailed the people and I asked them were all the concerts recorded professionally. They told me Prince didn't allow them to record the shows. We as'fams'know that the concerts were filmed and I saw cameras on the stage. My questions is has anyone here attended those 2011 concerts?Do you think that Prince had his own crew to record them? Those shows had some outstanding moments like Prince jamming with Maceo Parker on a couple of songs and maybe the concerts could qualify for a official Blu Ray/Dvd and Cd release in the future?Thank you!

I was there for night 3 which was pretty fricking spectacular based on setlist and performance with the minor hiccup of sound issues halfway through to which Prince called out soundguy "john"

But getting to hear the likes of

When I lay my hands on you
Empty room
Calhoun square
and especially a rarity like Girl was something else.

There was the videoscreen which I believe showcased multiple angles of the show, so I'd be hard pressed to believe that that hasn't been transferred to disc or file. Like the previous comment says, he records everything. wink

Just get "North Sea Nights," audience filmed but excellent quality. All 3 nights are out there.

It was recorded, but I think only saw one camera on stage and one near the sound stage. That's not enough for a proper Blu-Ray release, just for the big screen on stage and personal use of course. Maybe one day we'll see a bootleg version of those shows, but I doubt it. Of all the shows he has done, very few have gotten in the hands of "bootleggers". If anything gets out, it's usually just audio.

Yep, I was there too and also for night 1, which had the most sound troubles, but it got better as the night went on. He did mostly long funk jams (Musicology, Love Bizarre) plus a few covers he never did anywhere else. Opening with Foxy Lady (in the dark) was pretty cool, but I don't really need Andy Allo singing Let's Get it on. Larry was there too.
But, like you said, night 3 was great! Plus he returned a few weeks later to play in the Melkweg in Amsterdam, which was even better. So 2011 was one of my favourite Prince-years!
Oh, btw, there is something on youtube by someone who's not a king. shhh
