One way to "save" AOA - release "Time" to R&B stations?

Honestly - this is widely considered to be one of the better songs on the album - the bass is definitely funky - this is a standout R&B track right? Why would it not be a good choice to release to R&B stations and maybe drum up some attention for AOA?

Thoughts? And yes I realize the album is probably dead but wouldn't this have been a better single choice for R&B than This Could Be Us?

The album's dead. It don't take Stevie Wonder to see Prince lost interest in it already.

I never understood why folks like this so much anyway. If it wasn't for the bass part it would be a total zzz zzz zzz If we're talking about ballads, This Could Be Us is much better. If that one isn't going to grab people's attention, neither is Time. It's a shame. The album is pretty good.

Agreed. Art Official Age has sold just about as many copies it can with very little active engagement from Prince to promote with videos or performing the songs in concert. I'm ready for a new album now. I don't care about the remasters. Drop the NPGQ instrumental record, the NPG album, another 3RDEYEGIRL album or solo album, I don't care which one, but release another joint and play that music in concert.

As much as I like the song, there is no way in hell that this would ever even get played. And even if it did get played, it would not get any traction. Popular music today is just in a different direction. The "kids" and people that count in these "hit" matters do NOT care about Prince or his music. He would have to put out a FANTASTIC, widely accessible DANCE song to have even the slightst chance to get played.

"Clouds" would have lit up those stations; too late now, I guess. As has already been mentioned, the ol' boy has lost interest and moved on.

Not that it's the same as heavy radio play, but I did hear "Clouds" playing inside of a sports bar a month or two ago. Loud too. I looked around at the packed place, no one reacted to it at all that I could tell. I thought it sounded great on the nice sound system.

The only way to save AOA is that Prince promote it.

I don't want to debate about about the quality, but I think TBCU and TIME are not radio friendly.

U KNOW, way back home or GOLD STANDART are utterly radio friendly. But for a single to be a success, other than payola, you need the artist to get involved.

I actually agree with everything you just said.

Prince will likely release a 3RDEYEGIRL Christian rock album now and bury AOA completely. Shame, as it is a brilliant album that deserved more.

I wish people would stop saying that. God only knows what radio station you listen to that plays worse than clouds. There is no recording played on radio today anywhere as amateurish and badly produced as Clouds. Nothing. That track escaped from the very pit of 90's Prince. I bet he found it in his vault under a pile of Tony M's farts.

Ouch! biggrin I actually like "Clouds".

The bottom line is...if an artist doesn't show alot of enthusiasm towards their own work, nobody else will, either.Prince didn't do any 'real' promotion for these albums and that's why these albums didn't do very well.End of story.
