Glad to see Prince has mellowed and allowed NBC to use his face in their broadcasts without permission. We can all relax now and post photos of out homemade Prince-wear on Instagram and Youtube without fear of a DMCA takedown. Dancing Baby can shake his shit on Youtube without the PurplePartyPooper calling the cops and whatnot. | |

Surprised to hear so many here have never heard of Alabama Shakes before. Truly great band and awesome performance and very cool earrings The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Saw them in 2012 when they opened for Jack White and I have been following them since.
Looking forward to seeing them next week @ the Beacon.
If you plan on getting the new album,check with your local record store - they have an exclusive 7" for indie stores if you pre order the album. BestBuy has a 2 tracks CD single ,that came out 3 weeks ago, which has a $2 off cupon,when you purchase the album at BestBuy and Target has an exclusive version with a live CD(3 live tracks).

I caught the snl performance the other day and it blew me away. They sound better than prince. They are doing prince but better than prince. Why doesn't prince sound this good? Prince could have wrote those songs, performed those songs. They sound just like they could be prince songs. But he doesn't. He writes boring crap. This is what a guitar band should sound like. The woman on vocals was pretty damn solid on guitar too. Prince should wanna sound like alabamba shakes. This is why people say prince cant hang anymore. Prince is only as good as the band he surrounds himself with and gleens their ideas. He hasn't had a top player in decades. Technically yes but not creatively. Watching alabamba shakes makes me pissed at prince and how lazy and boring his ideas are. I saw a local group do a prince tribute a few months ago and it blew prince out of the water. Even singing. I just don't understand how these 3rd eye girls can practice 16 hours a day and still sound so boring and bad. I don't understand how someone as wealthy as prince hires the cheapest band possible. I wonder if prince would ever do a traveling wilburys type record with some actually talented people instead of his harem. Prince Kanye Kravitz and Rhianna and Sade ... maybe a supergroup band too like .. questlove, ndegeocello, stevie wonder, tom morrello, vernon reid .. BTW I thought D'angelo sucked balls too on snl. was expecting more with all the org hype. | |
