I'm happy that single from AOA is getting burn on the radio, but I'm anxious to get either a follow-up to PLECTRUMELECTRUM or another solo album with songs in the vein of "Revelations" and "The Ex's Face". AOA is a good album but without a tour to support the album, the single rising on the UAC chart seems empty.

I must say that I am quite surprised this continues to do so well on the charts. I'd recommend all those that support the single get on this website and start dialing in your requests to your local urban and pop radio stations.

An album that follows EVERY musical blueprint that prince ever created.

It's also not fair, to compare one album out of just three, D ever put out. Compared to over 35 albums prince has put out and still is. prince has already proven himself musically DECADES ago.

That said,D has been gone for 15 years. I've always stayed a fan of his. Glad he hasmade a welcome comeback...

[Edited 2/22/15 19:05pm]

Don't get me wrong, I totally love what prince has given us over the years but the discussion is more wether AOA has been neglected on purpose while being a really good album and I don't think that's the case. If D Angelo builds on the former work from Prince? Fine, luckily someone does. Prince built on James Brown, sly stone etc. His quality work didn't come falling from the sky but was inspired by those before him.

So having said that. If I just compare Prince latest album and that of D Angelo (never mind historic merrits of prince) I prefer Black Sabbath. And that's what's happening on the charts as well. People still love prince but there is other music out there that is good and better than AOA.

You know you both have interesting points. D'Angelo is a talented cat who is heavily influenced by Prince, heavily.....so it is a mystery why everyone from satellite to terrestial radio, freakin' Starbucks "hear music" to even tv commercial producers have ignored AoA and PLECTRUMELCTRUM. Interesting that U2 (who I like) drops anything at all and every form of media is all over everything about the release. While really good...while legendary in their own right...even if they made timeless music in the 1990s up until the early 2000s.....U2 isn't Prince. Yet the guy can't get a spin even on a respected, progressive, and influential non-commercial radio station like KCRW in L.A. Its gone beyond lack of promotion if you ask me. Great music should not be ignored.

Promotion has never been the problem. They did a massive amount of promotion. Every major mainstream media outlet covered it. As far a radio play, the million dollar question has always been who the target audience is. There is no way in hell KCRW would play the corny ass cheese on AOA. If they did, me as well as everyone else would bail on it. You can't force feed this crap on people and expect them to like it, much less spend money to get it. People just can't accept that it's appeal is limited. It has that crayon scribble pinned on the refrigerator appeal only parents or the obsessed could appreciate.

V10LETBLUES I can dig that you don't like AoA and you may not like PLECTRUM ELECTRUM its a free country and maybe you like his older stuff? But you can't tell me that because YOU don't dig it airplay = force feeding the public? Lots of people would like both works if they could only hear it. KCRW plays anything Beck makes (i like Beck) but both new Prince albums are better than Morning Phase. U2 is still played all over and their new stuff sounds like what they made in 2002. Radiohead whispers and presto...instant airplay....epsecially at KCRW (i love Radiohead btw). Prince is doing some 2015 music not 2005 or 1995 or 1985 versions of himself and I'm stoked that he is moving forward, just wish the broadcasting establishment would allow this great music to be heard. Despite all the hyper critique i see in this "fan" site, its the best work he has done in ages and with the exception of "Gold Standard" on AoA sounds like the man is moving forward to me! Folks on here are saying one song is getting played, maybe this is a start?

TCBU rises its number of spins, but its audience still remains particularly low.

In the weekly charts, TCBU is #23 in its second week (+6)

AOA is dow to #46 (-3) in the rnb album chart, in its 19th week

The song has risen from number 22 to 18 and is being played on

47 stations with 269 spins on the urban adult contemporary airplay chart. I'm surprised the song has gotten this much traction at radio.

Good to see that it's moved up to #18 on the Urban AC chart this week. I was/am afraid that it will top off at around 500 plays, but I really hope I'm wrong. Hope he can double that number for a real R&B radio hit. It's been quite a while since his last Top 10 UAC hit - FBM. Fingers-crossed.

Yup, I did a Sirius playlist search and its the only AoA or PlecElect track being played, mostly on "channel 3" whatever that is. I'm glad P is getting at least a little airtime.....maybe someone with taste will drop "Another Love" on just to get a reaction and the fun will begin again!

Why are you guys so desperate to hear Prince on the radio?

I gave that up years ago... let's face it. Prince was huge on the radio - decades ago.

Not anymore.

I've given up too, but it would be cool if radio would play new Prince again. You can't deny that it would be nice if our favorite artist is getting some more airplay, he deserves it.

.

I've always hated his single choices, but whatever, it's his deal, he seems to be his own worst enemy..

.

Also, I don't think anyone is denying Prince isn't huge on the radio, it's quite obvious.

If they can play U2's latest work on the radio they should play Prince's latest work. Also, he has hit a new muse that maybe started with "Lotus Flower" and has picked up steam with AoA and PlecElect....like someone else said a new generation needs to be able to appreciate his genius and us too!

My friend came over last night and said that he had heard a new Prince-sounding song on Sirius. I played him "This Could Be Us" and he said that was it. Perhaps it is gaining traction.

Barely not in the top 2000 of the most downloaded songs, not on the top 100 rnb, and it has virtually no effects on the album sales...

I believe this is wishful thinkiing on your part. Number 16 is not a BIG hit, but it could be on the way (at least I hope). I would consider most anything in the top ten to be a BIG hit, but to each their own, it can cetainly be a BIG hit to you all day long.

Naysayers will always say nay, even at his peak. You're just inviting orgers to argue with you at this point, so whatever nay saying you get, you'll deserve it.

Yep,they can spend a lot of effort to try and nudge a few stations to play it, but true sales will be zilch

Los Angeles is a HUGE market, to have ANY song by ANY artist, added to regular rotation, to a radio station, it's a BIG accomplishment these days, with stations playing the same songs, by a hand full of artist everyday. MILLIONS of people listen to radio EVERYDAY! I have now lost count at how many times I've heard it. It's a hit!

Btw; I don't have to invite a negative orger to argue. I'm stating FACTS!!! prince has another hit on his hands.. OWN TIT! BELIEVE IT!
