Wishlist 2015

And now, ladies and gentlemen,

without further adue, here is our wishlist for Prince for 2015:

a) record a slow Memphis-sound blues/soul album, with some fresh talent

b) visit Europe on a smaller-venue tour, with normal prices and ample time to buy tickets

c) scrap the PR remaster, but give us some outtakes in good quality - a new Crystal Ball

d) create a "Prince-tify" streaming site, with only Prince & associated artists records, outtakes and live versions; including HD videos, and lots of new music

Yep, that's what I want biggrin

What's your wish?

Prince, please do the decent thing: stop releasing new 'music' and open the vault.

A) A really solid album. Ideally a heavy rock album or something that's completely out there and interesting, but whatever sort of album, as long as it's solid.

B) More live shows.
C) PR remaster, with an album's worth of outtakes.

*Stop being a d!ck & set up a normal download site with quality merch that isn't a pain in the @ss.

.

*Release the PR remaster with extras for all these crazy f'n Prince fans here stuck in 1984, so we don't have to hear about the dayum PR remaster anymore.

.

*Release another solid experimental album with zero safe songs, throw out the formula book & start a new.

.

*Tour already, at your own pace of course.

.

*Smoke some good sh!t & chill the phuq out with your shenannigans, it's played out!

OK, here goes. I realize that I'd have a better chance at going home to bang Kate Beckinsale like a snare drum tonight than any of the following coming true, but:

1) No offense to prince.org, & granted, we don’t know the details of the WB contract, but I hope that he begins the year with the launch of a legitimate & lasting prince.com. I hope that he partners with a competent artist management firm with a respected clientele that will assure that his business & promotional affairs are handled responsibly.

2) I hope that this web site is designed to work (work being the operative word) on all current web platforms with minimal fuss & bother, with no silly puzzles or games involved to access content. I hope that content spans the entirety of Prince’s recording career, giving fans access to his released catalog. In a storefront environment, I hope that digital versions of his albums are made available for sale, including those that are no longer in print. I hope that this section of the web site will also be used to preview & release new &/or from the vault releases & that another section of the web site will feature news (light on the cryptic, new age, religious nonsense, heavy on music, tour information, substantial looks inside the guy’s world). And decent merchandise. I don't want crappy coffee mugs & symbol keychains.

3) I’m hoping that that the Purple Rain 31st Anniversary Album sees the light of day and that WB finally gives him a 3 disc set with it – a remastered first disc, outtakes & whatnot for the second & third. I’d like Prince & the Revolution Live on Blu Ray. I’d like a major US tour with dates announced well in advance. No hit and run nonsense.

4) I would like Prince, working with his management team, to become mindful of his legacy. His vault. I am not a sound engineer and I don’t know the state of the recordings in Paisley Park, but are they in the best condition they can be? And what good are they doing locked away unheard? Use the newly launched prince.com to allow fans to open up the vault, at least to some extent, and create their own (paid for) album configurations. We know Prince will never release Crystal Ball, but if a particular version from 1986 appealed to you & if all the tracks were suddenly available in studio quality…Given the reputed number of unreleased songs, it’d take far too long to see them released in CD form.

5) I’d like to see Prince travel more. Not to tour, but to learn things and open his mind. Meet people he wouldn’t normally be exposed to (read: people with different points of view, people who aren’t so dogmatic, religious, etc.). Hope that helps him open his mind a bit. See him go to random countries for extended stays, that wouldn’t necessarily be the first on his list, like Ireland, Australia, South Africa.

I’ll be home soon, Kate.

The most important thing for me is that the reissue series promised with Warner Bros. actually happens. I'm not needing a new album so quickly, after just getting 2 great ones (especially "Art Official Age") but if he puts one out i'm not gonna complain! cool

Reissues. Dirty Mind - TGE (with outtakes, Extended mixes, and live footage) I don't think they should wait for each album to turn however many years old. Just go ahead and give these classic albums the treatment they deserve

Lets have a new album which follows on and expands on AOA with songs like the Ex's Face.

Lets have a 3rdEyeGirl live album and, perhaps, a better stab at a new studio album.

Lets have that new "November surprise" album with the full NPG, including Big City.

PR reissue? Not bothered. The album sounds fine to me and I have most of the outtakes in varying degrees of quality anyway, which lead me to believe that the best songs from this period were officially released anyway (barring the odd one or two).

Prince, take a holiday. Come to Zambia, go on safari, see the Victoria Falls and I can even organise a gig or two for you in my bar if you need to let off some musical steam. I can be your driver, moving icognito around the country, and there is a comfortable bed for you in the spare room. We can even setup an impromptu gig in the garden for friends and colleagues if you wish, and if it gets too hot I have a swimming pool to cool down in. There are several recording studios in Lusaka should the urge to record come over you and there are plenty of places to just chill out and be yourself without prying eyes. All of this comes with a no-paparazzi promise.

That should pretty much do it for 2015 for me. smile

Adorecream

1. Read my recent thread about commercial clout Prince.

2. Put out a killer sequel to Art Official Age and scrap the 2nd 3EG album.

3. Tour New Zealand or at least Australia

4. Remastered albums particularly Sign o the Times, I need Adore in surround sound.

5. Ditch 3rd eye girl, Andy Allo and every other squeaky bimbo protege you have lurking around.

6. Repudiate Jehovahs Witness and stop being a slave to dogmatic bullshit xty.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

He signs up with a new manager of the Irving Azoff level of authority and power.

That's it. Honestly the rest would take care if itself:

Prince could make music as fast as he wants and his new managemrnt would take care of everything else.

Fans would get a real world tour (maybe it would be his last being realistic)

Reissues (with Prince rightly compensated)

An autobiography or a pt least a fully co-operated biography.

Princes legend is secured and everyone is happy.

1. Continue getting rid of your super-entitled know-it-all, self-satisfied ex fans who hang around simply to fantasy-manage your career.

2. Continue releasing great music like Art Official Age that doesn't sound like a legacy act and is open-minded about today's music.

3. If you feel like it, continue creating "analog" experiences, just don't generously hand over control of two thirds of the tracks to your protégés.

Or...

1) Continue feeding the sheep & apppease your super-entitled know-it-all, self-satisfied fams who hang around to dictate what others can appreciate about your music with their fantasy of what passes for "great" music (e.g. more by the numbers R&B, like Art Official Age that sounds like a legacy act trying to keep pace with today's music & being as narrow-minded as he's been the last 15 years or so.

2) Write a song knocking these same fans who criticize others for taking issue with you for finding fault, but then do exactly the same when they cite how you give away your music to your so-called protégés.

Some people really need to understand the concept of a wishlist. Santa, a magical, genie, Prince? Each are equally ridiculous, but if you are so far gone that you can't even play the game, that says more about you than anything...

Give the fans what they really want! - Now that you have your masters, re-record your classic albums with guest appearances by some of today's hottest stars! Team up with super producer Avicii for appearances by Ke$hia, Lady GaGa, and Taylor Swift!

1. The Purple Rain remasters. Prince has a long history of suggesting possible album releases that never come out. I know it is free PR but it does annoy the fan base. U2 does this too. Please stop.

2. For Prince to stay true to himself and his artistry. Prince does not need a new producer unless that producer is prince.

3. Maybe have a new album in late 2015. I see many people on here want a new experimental album, or a new jazz record, or another rock album. I sometimes think you guys forget who Prince is. Prince has hundreds of songs finished already from the old days up until probably yesterday of all those types of songs. Prince just needs to find which tracks go well with other tracks to make up a new album. I kind of wish for another Emancipation actually. I am happy with the two new albums but I would prefer not to wait another 4-5 years for the next project.

Being serious this time -

Work with producer James Murphy on a Dirty Mind / Controversy (sound) inspired follow up. Then, work with producer Mark Ronson on a ATWIAD / SOTT (sound) inspired follow up.

I've learned to filter out the folks from #1, but yes!!! to #2 and #3.

Since we are wishlisting, I too would like a special edition remaster of Purple Rain that includes extended versions & B-sides, outtakes (the extended Take Me With U, Beautiful Ones, Darlin Nikki w/out the backwards masking, & Computer Blue hallway speech, Electric Intercourse), and film score music like Father's Song (Piano) & Possessed (instrumental), etc.); with some detailed liner notes in the vein of what Alan Leeds wrote for the The Hits 1 & 2/The B-Sides, and some archival photographs. Throw in a DVD of the original First Avenue concert, and well, Prince will own my year.

He should work with Blood Orange too. I think they jammed together so there some respect from P already. I think he's too snooty (sadly) to work with Ronson or Murphy.

I wish Prince would stop being distracted by every hot woman that says something complementary about him or his music. Then he has to call them up, do an album for them, write a song for them, have them go on tour with him, or, all of the above. Why he feels the need to respond in this fashion is beyond me. The brother just needs to get back in the studio, by himself, and tune out all of the extraneous noise.

My only wish really is for the protege thing to die entirely. Its a massive waste of time...UNLESS he needs writedowns and if thats why they exist nmnd then keep on managing that money lolololol

Outside of that I'm behind everything Prince does, however he wants to do it.

Mentoring other artists is great, but I think teaching younger kids is where he can make the most impact smile
