It's funny that you think the two are related.

I think it is odd that Prince can win a grammy for Fututre Baby Mama, yet no nomination despite the critical acclaim for such a high quality album IMHO.

...which means it's been an abysmal year for R&B music. :/

i saw it was in the top 40 albums of the year for rolling stone ... and

i do was thinking "what the hell "??

i have been trying to get into this album for a month now .... all I keep thinking is "this is what he took 4 years to make ???"

i do enjoy the last 4 songs on the album ... but other than that ... pfff it smells like a fart to me .

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Thats pretty good, as there were a few really decent R&B albums out this year, but still the vast majority was stale, boring, and generic. This list is pretty good though and I agree with most of the ones who are in the top ten.

Change it one more time..

What's listed as #1?

AOA is a FANTASTIC CD

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It's certainly dull enough to make the list.

Well deserved. Art Official Age is truly an album for the age and will be remembered as such when people look back on Prince's discography years from now, when full access to the Vault is achieved.

P.S.: probably only after his death (long after yours -- the guy will outlive most people here).

I didn't read the link because I'm picking my nose and I only got one hand free or something, but the list should go like this:

#1: Black Messiah

#2: AOA

#3: ??! whatever

1. FKA Twigs, 'LP1

Hey there's even a Prince reference in the no 1 spot this year.

Not bad for an irrelevant old man.

Another list with a Prince reference in the no 1 spot. Prince is on a roll.

I need to listen to FKA Twigs more. It hasn't hit me yet.

I'm still waiting for my extended mix of Clouds. Dammit. Come on, Prince!

You must have had your other hand up your butt 'cause that's from where you had to pull Black Messiah. :^) I'm sure you're gonna get me for this, but I couldn't resist.

Rolling Stone Magazine is voting on what the #2 R&B album of the year is? Am I the only one that thinks that is odd? If you think about it that's ACTUALLY A DISS! Prince is being pigeon-holed into their R&B category by a rock/pop magazine. Do they have a pop category for example and what ranking did they vote Prince? At this moment, to me, it sounds like the only way they could throw Prince a bone was to vote him #2, R&B, which is a level as a magazine they have no real niche in. They dissed Prince.

If putting one hand up my butt resulted in Black Messiah, I'm sticking both hands up there next time. I might even use my feet, too.

Rolling Stone has been pretty far up Prince's ass for a while now. And nobody reads and/or buys it anymore.

I was under the impression this was an R&B cd? It is not? Hmmm. if it is Pop Rock maybe I should get it. I always thought this was a strictly R&B album which honestly I don't like Prince's "new" R&B sound.

it really shouldn't be too hard to listen to it before you buy it. I'm not sure how someone could be enough of a fan to post on this board yet not even bother to listen to a new Prince album.

Anytime anyone doesnt agree with a list its "irrelevant".. whenever it does it's "spot on". Isn't that the way it always goes?

Change it one more time..

Rolling Stone gives 5 stars to Springsteen everytime he takes a crap. It is business. Networking. It is about shaking the right hands. Prince does not do that and pays the price for it in the media.
