Ok we all know the song Another Lonely Christmas. What a downer, right? I hear all these other artists who put out holiday music thats played on the radio etc... Don't you just wish Prince would sit down at the keyboards and come up with a soaring beautifull ballad or rocking song about coming together during the holidays? I am sure he could come up with one that blows these lukewarm ones out there already. Even it was just him and piano and some mild percussion or a fast and warm song with hooks and jams to boot. Don't you all ever wonder why he doesn't or wish that he did? I do!

Wrong...JWs believe in Jesus. They just don't celebrate Christmas.

I always thought of Another Lonely Christmas as being the ultimate anti-Christmas song. While other music stars were releasing dodgy Christmas covers or in some cases albums. Prince went with possibly his most depressing song ever.

The closest we have to a Prince Christmas song is Snow Man, which was never released. Lyrically there are several references to Christmas, but we don't know if Nona Gaye wrote them all (it is about her childhood memories).

To address the actual topic of this thread--I figure Prince could probably write an entire album's worth of holiday material in two to four weeks if he had the time and inclination, and was able to put his mind to it and he wanted to knock it out quick. Being that he's a Jehova's Witness, and considering how long it's been since he released "Another Lonely Christmas" (which, by the way, I absolutely love), I wouldn't hold my breath on getting new holiday songs from him anytime soon. Then again, Prince has been known to defy expectations, so you never know....

One song I always associated with christmas since the first time I heard it is"Goodbye" from Crystal Ball. I don't know why. I think it's the overall mood and melody that feels like your sitting in front an open fire sipping on your hot chocolate.

Christmas is just around the corner. I mean would'nt it be great for Prince to put together a song about family and friends coming together? And yeah I get he's a Jehovah Witness and he can't do a "proper" Christmas song. I mean I know he could lay some trax that would be funky and inspiring about this time of year. We all know he loves Jesus and is always talking about "what Jesus would do". So why cant he write about his favorite brother for this time of year. It would be so much better than the shit I hear on the radio now. Ugh
