Where do Princes clothes go when he retires them?? And which one- if any would you wear?

Sorry if this thread topic has been brought up before, but I've often wondered this. Do any of you have any idea what he does with the clothes he has 'retired' from different eras? Does he keep them in a big closet at PP? (That'd be a huge closet, christ) or does he throw them away? (eep, I'd hate to imagine that!).

Also, if you could choose one outfit from any era at all to keep and wear which would it be?

As for me I'd have any of his 1990 GB outfits. That era of clothes just looked comfy.

I dont have much of a clue. But somewhere, from some show there is a short video

As i recall
It shows the work shop in Paislet Park where some of his outfits were made
Even a tiny mannequin used to size his clothes lol
They show a few famous outfits that were shown in videos. So im guessing some stuff may be stored there

Mayte sold some of his outfits to some auction site that ended up on Ebay earlier this year

I think you're talking about when Oprah went to PP. The purple trench, Sexy MF and other outfits were shown?

The street legend is that a certain Minneapolis Goodwill shop/ five and dime has a whole rack of suits with matching boots delivered each month with a note in purple writing. The lady working there has a red beret. If you are between 5' and 5'3 then you are in luck. Otherwise the only pants you wont bust the ass out of are a yellow pair.

I wish Prince had kept all his clothes chronilogically for a Prince museum that could accompany an opened vault at a Prince museum. Purple Rain and Parade are classics. He is the reason I have 3 polka dot shirts, long coats and purple clothing. The nineties had really good clothes or really bad clothes. Some of the suits in the 90's were great. If you are not Prince you can;t really wear high waisted pants or too many buttons.

Check King Sausage's closet. I heard sometimes he has tea with dolls dressed as Prince from different eras.

Some were certainly saved at least for a while because they:

1. featured in the Nude tour book from 1990 (pages 20 and 21):

http://www.princevault.co...book:_Nude

2. were displayed at Paisley Park during the first Celebration in 2000 (including, for example, the blue cloud costume from the 'Raspberry Beret' video)

A costume from the Purple Rain era designed by Louis and Vaughn (Louis Well and Terry Vaughn) has been featured by the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul:

http://www.mnhs.org/colle...ostume.php

I'm pretty sure that the occasional costume has been donated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, and perhaps the Hard Rock cafe chain has acquired some items of clothing for display in their chain (there have been images posted here in the post, as I recall)

Some costumes have been sold on ebay and auctioned at Sothebys, for example, as testified by images previously posted here at the org too.

The mannequin which fragileundertow refers to above was shown in the Prince documentary which showed the preparations for the Lovesexy tour, including brief comments from Wardrobe Manager, Helen Hiatt. The same / similar mannequin shown in the documentary is also photographed in the liner notes booklet for The Hits / B Sides release

If anything. Those high collar shirts that he wore frequently during the Musicology Tour (performance w/Beyonce, Tonight Show, etc.)

I wish. I live in the twin cities and frequent Goodwill, Savers, Arc, etc.

There may be a shirt or two, or boots, but no outfits that stand out.

He either auctions them off or keeps them in storage.

Ahh, sounds like he keeps a good chunk of his clothes then. I wonder if he will ever run out of room and just sell them? (Or even better, give them away... but we know that would never happen because this is PRINCE we are talking about) XD

But in retrospect it's kinda pointless for him to have thousands of dollars worth of clothes to just leave them around not wearing them. He should at least do something with the less sentimental/iconic outfits.
