Warner Brothers, Vinyl sales plan? AOA & PE

Do you think the delay is in place maybe so that it gives them a chance to re-enter the charts? (Obviously sales for Vinyl is less anyway) but many who bought the cd will also want a vinyl copy, resulting in many fans buying twice. Maybe some sort of Artificial delay lol

I was looking at the new Wu-Tang Clan album released through WB next week and they have a "delay" on the Vinyl too until March

There is usually a 15 days delay, in order for the label to see if the regular album is selling sufficiently to the point it deserves a vinyl release.

The numbers were disappointing, there surely was a symbolic point to reach in term of actual sales (and not shipments) in order to launch the album.

Usually vinyl sales = 3 % of total sales (digital + physical)

Yeah thought it may be something along them lines, not a great deal of sales Vinyl wise but I know alot of P fans like to collect the vinyl too so may double up.

Didnt think anything of the delay at the time, just thought it was like I was told by the record shop that it was down to Prince not being happy, but then when I saw this similar few months delay for Wu-tang and Warner brothers there may be soemthing more to it.

I guess possibly just to do with Limited Pressing facilities in 2014 being a hold up.

On the plus side though Vinyl Sales have just hit 1 Million for the year for the first time in a while.

Great to see the format coming back though slowly and a bonus that the majority you get both MP3 and Vinyl for the same price together biggrin

I think most Prince fans did buy it to be fair, the sales (no matter how big/small) were no doubt mostly made up of Fans, the general casual wouldnt be bothered about buying them IMO

Maybe you didnt buy it and was not happy with it, but you cannot speak for everyone.

I can speak for myself and I bought both formats

I bought it 4 days before actual release.

Prince has more than 70.000 fans in the world, that is to say the worldwide sales of PE. Even on sale less than two months after release, nobody buys it.

AOA alone sold 3 times more than PE. So it proves there is at least 200.000 fans in the world.

People these days have better things to spend cash on, album sales are at their lowest ever he did well to sell what he has, as he is no longer relevant. Majority of Prince fans from back when he was big probabaly lost interest not long after he left WB. Also take into account it was on streaming services like Spotify further effecting it.

Do you honestly think though WB put these records out thinking they were going to shift in high volumes?

They clearly planned a tour which is where almost 70% of their revenue comes from these days. Check out the below.

i agree with you but that's not the point.

The point is PE sold 70.000 and AOA sold three times more. So it proves some fan bought AOA, but didn't bother to buy PE.

And please don't tell me there are casual buyers who bought AOA...When one handle the album in store, people must be discouraged to buy it by its light weight.

Even the SNL had no effects on charts.

Yes I bought AOA when I was at the record store but I didn't bother to pick up Plec and obviously a majority of the fans did the same. That proves that there has been a very little interest in the whole 3EG project and lots of fans doesn't care about another protégé album

The album cover for PlEl hurt it too, versus AOA full-on Prince head. If Prince was more prominent it would have sold more.

Really- who knew what was on AOA anyways- no tracklist on the back!

He hurts himself by not putting track lists on the back- who knows what you're buying?

He makes dumb choices

Can you tell me why you're so injuring ? Apparently, i'm not the only one here who was disappointed by the packaging. Casual buyers are not interested in buying an album so light, with no tracklists, etc. That's not a surprise.

Your obsession with sales and packaging (you've made dozens of posts on the subject these last few months), combined with the fact that you confuse your own beliefs/theories with fact makes you just about the most annoying boarder here.

Clear enough?

Yep too focused on sales of what many believe is a has been artist. (Aside from fans who keep up to date with him no one really cares)

He could release his best Album ever next year but the sales will still be poor regardless, he knows that, labels know that.

Ah, so that's why album sales have fallen. Albums just aren't as HEAVY as they used to be!

Twilites obsession with always responded to Rod to heat things up is even sadder...

Even if you were holding off on a vinyl release to see if selling sufficiently, you are not going to be able to turn round a run of vinyl in a fortnight!

Vinyl manufacturing capacity is limited hence a lot of albums are released on vinyl [however many weeks] after the CD/digital release but the vinyl release has still been planned well in advance.
